A St. Patrick’s Day special dinner and party will be held on Monday, March 17, at the Pittston Senior Citizens Center. Dinner reservations must be made at least one day in advance. An asking donation of $2 is requested. A party will follow from 1 to 3 p.m. with music by John Simkovich. Cost of the party is $3 and light refreshments will be served.


The Pittston Active Adult Center is located at 441 North Main St., Pittston. Hours of operation are 8 a.m to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. N Free coffee is served from 8:30 a.m. to closing. The center now has Wi-Fi available as well as three computers with internet access.


A Zumba Gold class is being held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays with Tony Balucha, Certified Zumba Instructor. Classes are open to adults 50 and older. Cost for Center Members is $2 per class and non-member is $3.


A council meeting will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 21.


March birthdays will be celebrated on Friday, March 21. A birthday basket will be raffled off before lunch and you must be present to win.


An AARP Driver Safety Course will be offered at the Center on Friday, April 25. This will be a 4-hour refresher course. Participants must have taken an 8-hour course previously to register for this class. The class will be held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Lunch may be ordered in advance for an asking donation of $2. By taking this course, participants may be entitled to a discount on your automobile insurance. Cost of this class is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. Pre-registration is necessary by calling the center at 570-655-5561


Reservations are now open for the following trips:


April 30: Ehrhardt’s Waterfront Resort. Cost is $65 which includes motorcoach transportation, coffee and strudel upon arrival, a family-style dinner and a comedy show entitled “Raising Cane.”


June 18: Sight & Sound Theater with its new production for 2014 entitled “Moses.” Cost is only $115, which includes motorcoach transportation, show and dinner at Miller’s Smorgasbord. Two seats are remaining.


July 27: Woodloch Pines Resort. Cost is $70 which includes motorcoach transportation, sweet bread upon arrival, fabulous all-you-can-eat smorgasbord, boat rides and variety show.


Cosmopolitan Seniors


The next Cosmopolitan Seniors meeting will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18 in St. Anthony’s Center. Hosts/hostesses are Aggie Abromavage, Catherine Haddock, Irene Kovaleski, John Kovaleski and Marge Zinkavich.


A casino trip is being planned for Wednesday, March 19 to Mount Airy Casino with pickups in Exeter and Pittston. Non-members ae welcome. Call Johanna at 570-655-2720 for reservations and information.
