Mary Popple Argenio, 82, of West Pittston, died May 13, 2010, at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Jacksonville, FL, where she was a patient for 12 days.

She graduated from West Pittston High School and the Wilkes-Barre School of Business, and she had a long and rewarding career with Wilkes College, from where she retired in 1990.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Josephine and Alex Popple; a brother, Anthony Popple; a sister, Phyllis Popple Argenio; and a brother-in-law, Lawrence Argenio.

She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Sandra Argenio, a son-in-law, Tom Sperrazza; and a granddaughter, Jessie Sperrazza, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; a son, Paul Argenio Jr., a daughter-in-law, Barbara Miller Argenio; and grandchildren, Alex and Christie Argenio, West Pittston; sisters, Ida Rowe, Wyoming, and Helen Battle; and a brother-in-law, Jack Battle, West Pittston; a brother, Joe Popple, and sister-in-law, Judy Popple, Leesburg, VA; many nieces and nephews, including Dr. Lauren Argenio and Karen Weed, West Pittston.

Funeral service was May 18 from the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, West Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Trinity Episcopal Church, West Pittston. Interment Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville. Online condolences may be made at www.peterjadoniziofuneralhome.com.
