Wyoming Area continued to play some solid tennis this week.

Warriors Nick Leon and Mike Wrebin won in singles while the team of Tom Rose and Aaron Cartertook a win in doubles to give the Warriors the win.

Wyoming Seminary 3

Pittston Area 2

Wyoming Seminary swept doubles competition to earn a 3-2 road win over Pittston Area in WVC boys tennis play on Wednesday.

Chris Kim was the lone singles winner for the Blue Knights while the teams of Eamon Gibbons/Matt Obeid and Rich Hughes/Ed Laguna took wins in the doubles.

The Patriots’ effort was led by wins in singles competition from Tyler Woodruff and Terry Briggs.

BOYS TRACK

Coughlin 95

Pittston Area 55

Pittston Area’s Colin Tracy, Angelo Aita and Michael Harth were the lone winners in the Patriots loss to Coughlin. The Crusaders placed first in 12 events to earn the win.

Tracy paced the field in the 110 hurdles, while Harth was a winner in the 200. Aita came out on top in the triple jump, which turned out to be a sweep for the Patriots.

Wyoming Area 89.5,

GAR 60.5

At Sobeski Stadium, Ryan Murray took first in the 400 dash, triple jump and high jump and was the runner-up in the long jump to lead the Warriors past GAR on Tuesday.

Nico Vasquez was a double winner in the 1600 and 800 runs and Ryan Marvin led the pack in the 3200 run. Anthony Maurent placed first in the 100 and 200 dashes for the Grenadiers.

Northwest 81.5

Wyoming Area 68.5

The Warriors got off to a hot start, winning two of the first three events, but the Rangers would win three of the next four and ultimately earn the victory.

Wyoming Area’s 3,200 relay team picked up a win. Shaun Vazquez took the 800, leading to a sweep for Wyoming Area. Jeff Skursky won the javelin.

GIRLS TRACK

Wyoming Area 111,

GAR 37

Haley Stackhouse was a double winner (100 hurdles and high jump), Audrey Hiedacavage won the 1600 run and was part of the winning 3,200 relay team and Marcyssa Brown was the victor in the triple jump for Wyoming Area.

Pittston Area 111

Coughlin 34

The Patriots had wins in 11 events to earn the victory against the Crusaders.

Madison Mimnaugh was a winner in the 1,600 and 800 events, which resulted in a sweep for the Patriots. Tara Johnson took first in the 3,200, while Olivia Giambra won the long jump.

Northwest 83,

Wyoming Area 67

In the first three events, the Warriors had athletes finish in first, but it wasn’t enough as the Rangres went on to the win.

Jillian Spak was a winner in the 110 hurdles and the 100 dash.
