PITTSTON TWP. — Construction on a new Denny’s restaurant on Route 315 is expected to begin by early March, according to franchise owner Naymesh Patel.

Patel, originally from India and currently a resident of Bloomsburg, has opened and owned several businesses throughout Columbia and Lycoming counties. This will be his third restaurant in Pennsylvania. He chose the location in Pittston Township because of its proximity to major highways like Interstates 81 and 476.

“We’re excited to come to Pittston,” Patel said. “That location is really good with the junction of 476 and 81. Both of those highways are always busy.”

The restaurant will be located at 449 Route 315, near the highway’s split just north of the Pilot. Patel said this restaurant will be the first Denny’s in Northeast Pennsylvania with the “modern 2016 look.”

“People still have the old image of Denny’s,” Patel said. “The restaurant we are opening is completely a new look. It will be a different image.”

Patel currently owns Ready Go Burrito on Main Street in Bloomsburg as well as California Tortilla in State College. He recently operated a Subway and has owned eight gas stations in the Williamsport, Bloomsburg and Benton areas.

Recently, a Taco Bell opened in Pittston township near Burger King and Walmart. Patel is excited to open a Denny’s there because most of the options off exit 175 are fast food, he said.

“Everything around there is fast food,” Patel said. “I hope everyone is happy to see the new restaurant coming to town.”

Currently, there are several Denny’s restaurants in the area, with locations in Dickson City, Wilkes-Barre, Hazleton and Bloomsburg.
