Tickets available for dinner dance

PITTSTON — Tickets are on sale for the annual Senior Dinner Dance to be held from noon to 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 5 at Genetti’s Hotel in Wilkes-Barre. Cost to attend is $21 for seniors over the age of 60 and $23 for seniors under the age of 60. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and dinner will be served at 12:15 p.m. Entertainment will be by King Henry and the Showmen. For further information, contact Connie or Hazel at the center.

Mount Airy Casino — Monday, July 18

Sands Casino — Thursday, Aug. 18

Ehrhardt’s Waterfront Resort Day Trip — Thursday, Oct. 6

Sands Casino — Thursday, Nov. 3

Line dancing classes with Sue are held at 10 a.m. Mondays. Exercise classes with Catherine and Ruth are held at 9 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Sandi offers chair exercise classes at 11 a.m. Tuesdays and 9 a.m. Thursdays. There is no charge for these classes.

Ceramic Class with Ann is held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays while Bingo with Ron and Amy is held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday and Friday mornings and also from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday afternoons.

The center offers ballroom dance lessons with Joseph Kull, instructor at 2 p.m. Fridays. A small fee is charged.

FALLS ACTIVE ADULT CENTER

Book Club meets May 2

EXETER TWP. — Book Club will meet at the Falls Active Adult Center from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 2 to discuss “Mary Coin” by Marisa Silver.

An open house will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3.

The center will be closed on Thursday, May 5 as the Annual Senior Dance will be held form noon to 4 p.m. at Genetti’s Best Western Hotel in Wilkes-Barre. The theme is “Secret Garden” and entertainment will be by King Henry and the Showmen. Cost to attend is $21 for those over the age of 60 and $23 for those under the age of 60. Contact the center for tickets.

Bob Perks, singer and former television host from WVIA-TV and radio host from WILK, will be on hand from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. on Friday, May 6 to sing oldies from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s.

Lunch & Learn will be held at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 12 during which Linda Mesavage from United Cerebral Palsy Assistive Resource Center will conudct demonstrations for those needing adaptive equipment.

Free blood pressure screenings will be from 12:20 12:45 p.m. by Walgreens employees.

Center members will make living wreaths from 10:30 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, May 16. This class will be limited to five people at a time, so reservations are required. All supplies provided.

A staff member from state Rep. Karen Boback’s office will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18 to answer any state related questions you have.

A special 90’s birthday party and lunch on Wednesday, May 18 will feature the Jolly Seniors having a sing along with music from the ’20s and ’30s after lunch.

Lunch & Learn will be 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 19 and will feature Kelly Lunger from Caregivers of America to discuss, “Ways to stay mentally and physically healthy in your senior years.”

COSMOPOLITAN SENIORS

Club meeting May 10

EXETER — The Cosmopolitan Seniors club will hold its next meeting at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10 to attend the 41st Anniversary Mass in St. Anthony’s Church of St. Barbara’s Parish, immediately followed by an anniversary dinner at St. Anthony’s Center.

A casino trip is scheduled to Sands Casino on Thursday, May 12. Pickups are in Exeter and Pittston. It is not required to be a member to join a trip. Call Johanna at 570-655-2720 for reservations and information.
