The Falls Active Adult Center recently hosted an Art Show featuring local artists. The Falls Lions Club partnered in the event and sold hot dogs and hamburgers as a fundraiser for their club.
Mondays: 10-11:30 a.m. Wii bowling competition with Tunkhannock Center ( alternating sites); 1-2 p.m. Crocheting Club (all levels welcome). Tuesdays and Fridays: 11:15-11:45 a.m. “Healthy Steps” exercise program. Wednesdays: 10-10:45 a.m. Walking group.; Tuesdays: Brain games at lunch.; Thursdays: Nutrition talks at lunch.; Fridays: 9 a.m.- noon Geocaching activity.
Tuesday, Sept. 24: Master Gardener Roberta Troy will give a presentation at 11 a.m. entitled ” Gardening is for the Birds.”
Thursday, Sept. 26: A representative from Golden Living Center will give a presentation on Falls Prevention at 11 a.m. A free blood pressure screening will be available.
Thursday, Oct. 3: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Health Fair at the center.
There will be free vision screening, and free blood pressure screening to anyone. Free shingles shots will be given to those 50 and older who are uninsured. Flu shots will also be available to anyone. Medicare covers this so bring your insurance cards. The cost will be $30 for the Flu shots to those who do not have insurance. There will be representatives from various other health organizations to give free information to services for seniors.
Anyone wishing to join us for a hot meal at noon for a suggested donation of $2 for those over 60 and $3.06 for those under 60 should RSVP to Twila at 570-388-2623 by 12:30 p.m. the day before. The center is open from 9 a.m.to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Cosmopolitan Seniors next meeting is at 1 p.m. in St. Anthony’s Center on Tuesday, Oct. 1. Host/hostesses are: Mary Coleman, Rose Gunsior, Evelyn Naples, Bernie Petrasek, Ann Marie Shedlock, and Betsie Williams.
A Casino trip is planed for Oct. 9, to Mt. Airy with pickups in Exeter and Pittston. You do not have to be a member to come on these trips. Details can be obtained from Johanna at 655-2720.
