HANOVER TWP. — The Hanover Area School Board on Thursday gave final
approval to its 1995-96 budget.

The $17,751,768 spending plan is $800,000 higher than last year, according
to Joseph Kochuba, the school’s business administrator.
But even with the increase, taxes will not be raised because construction
of new homes and businesses has created economic growth in the area, Kochuba
said.

The current tax rate is 207 mills. A mill is a $1 tax for each $1,000 of
assessed property value. A typical homeowner with a property assessed at
$3,000 will still pay $621 in school taxes.

In other business, the school board approved bids for renovations at all
Hanover Area schools. The renovations are expected to be finished by
September.

Bognet Inc., with a bid of $604,000, will repair the heating and
ventilating systems.

Electric construction was awarded to Rogan Electric, Wilkes-Barre, and will
cost $87,500.

G. Ritsick & Sons’ bid of $69,735 was the lowest for plumbing construction.

General construction will be done by R.L. Mylet, Inc. of Wilkes-Barre. The
company’s bid amount was unclear Thursday.
