    Gertrude Conway Dugan of Lehigh Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Sunday at Valley
   
Crest Nursing Center, Plains TownshipBorn in Sugar Notch, she was the
daughter of the late Thomas J. and Mary Munley Conway.
   
She attended Sugar Notch schools and received a bachelor’s degree from East
Stroudsburg State Teachers College.
   
During World War II, she was chief female personnel interviewer for
Bethlehem Steel in Allentown.
   
She was director of Adult Activities at the Catholic Youth Center in
Wilkes-Barre from 1953 to 1958.
   
Before retirement, she was an elementary school teacher for the hard of
hearing at the Kirby Health Center, Wilkes-Barre, for many years.
   
She was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church,
Wilkes-Barre, and its Altar & Rosary Society.
   
She was a charter member of the Democratic Club of Greater Wilkes-Barre.
   
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas C. McDermott; her
second husband, Charles J. Dugan; nine brothers and sisters.
   
Surviving are sons, Dr. Robert T. McDermott, Easton; Dr. Thomas C.
McDermott, Kingston; daughter, Maureen McDermott Geiger, Denville N.J.;
stepson, Charles Dugan, Connecticut; stepdaughter, Shirley Andrews,
Philadelphia; seven grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; three
great-grandchildren.
   
The funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday from the McLaughlin Funeral
Service, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, followed by a funeral Mass at
10:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church.
   
Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
