Save the date, Saturday, Nov. 23, from 9 to 11 a.m., for the Annual Santa Parade in downtown Scranton.

Plans are well underway for this year’s parade. As always, the parade promises to have fabulous floats, local marching bands, top-notch dance groups and of course, the big man himself, Santa.

The committee is currently accepting applications for sponsorships, participants, and donations. Volunteers are also needed for various positions the day of the parade. Please contact,, or (570) 483-8757 for more information on how you can get involved and support this spectacular community event. Sponsorship and participant applications are available on the website.

Once again, WNEP-16 is televising the parade live and is our proud media partner.

The parade is organized and promoted by Santa Parade, Inc., a new nonprofit organization devised mostly of past Santa Parade organizers and chairpersons who are dedicated to continuing the tradition of welcoming Santa to Scranton. This year’s all volunteer board and committee has a combined total of more than 75 years of parade organizing experience. The name has changed, but the faces remain the same.

The Santa Parade has grown to the point that it was decided it should become its own entity. There was a concern among past parade organizers that the 20-year tradition would not continue if something was not done. Therefore, Santa Parade, Inc. was created specifically to plan, organize, promote and run the parade.
