The federal government shutdown has one business working harder than ever while also sending out a good vibe.
The online adult toy store, Vibrators.com, is giving away 200 pink, battery-operated vibrators daily to help non-essential government employees stay busy while waiting to be called back to work.
“Do you have a little too much time on your hands and nothing to do? Is the government shutdown to blame?” the Vibrators.com promotion asks. “Why not try something new?”
The offer is apparently creating a buzz in Washington and putting a full load of work on employees at the Vibrators.com fulfillment center.
Vibrators.com says it reached its limit Monday, but another 200 will be available again Tuesday afternoon and every day for the duration of the shutdown.
Vibrators.com apologized it could not supply more of the single, AA battery devices to the thousands idled by the government shutdown, but its warehouse only has the capacity to send 200 a day without causing order delays for paying customers, the website says.
The give-away is generating publicity for Vibrators.com, with several media outlets reporting on the story.
But the Vibrators.com promotion also takes a stand against greed and fraud.
“”Order twice or order two different free gifts without making a purchase and you will get nothing. Order one even though you are not a furloughed federal employee and we won’t really know, but Karma will get you,” the website said.
Vibrators.com promises complete satisfaction and to ship the item (and any other items ordered from their online store) with “the utmost privacy and discretion.”
The offer is prominently displayed on the Vibrators.com website along with instructions for ordering using the coupon code “Shutdown.”
Vibrators.com is one of 10 online retail stores owned by PriveCo Inc., a Troy, Mich., company that bills itself as the worlds most private company specializing in the world’s most embarrassing products.
