The Lackawanna County Commissioners presented a “Good Works” certificate to the Friends of the Poor for the kind, compassionate commitment the organization provides to those in need in our community.

For the past 27 years, the Friends of the Poor have eased the burden of those living in poverty or in low-to-moderate income housing. The agency operates six pantries and offers emergency assistance and vital household items to its clients.

The Friends newest venture is its “Clothesline For Men,” which distributes clothing and toiletries to individuals for interviews, work or special occasions.
