    Leona Szafranovicz, 68, of Washington Avenue, Larksville, died Friday at
   
Wilkes-Barre General HospitalBorn in Plymouth on Dec. 14, 1928, she was
daughter of the late Joseph and Veronica Rubinski Whitecavage.
   
She lived in Larksville for most of her life and attended Larksville High
School.
   
She was last employed at Genetti’s Hotel, Wilkes-Barre, in the food service
department.
   
She also was formerly employed as a floor worker at various dress factories
in the Wyoming Valley.
   
She was a member of St. Casimir’s Church, Lyndwood, Hanover Township.
   
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steven, in 1990; brother Albert
Whitecavage; and sisters Mary Karavis, Alice Shaffern and Barbara Sincavage.
   
Surviving are her children, Veronica Yuscavage, Moscow; Stephen
Szafranovicz, Plymouth; Theresa Thomas, Laflin; Michael Szafranovicz,
Larksville; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother John
Whitecavage, Plains Township; sisters Eleanor Shandra, Lyndwood, Hanover
Township; Frances Strunk, Huntington Mills; and several nieces and nephews.
   
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday from the S.J. Grontkowski
Funeral Home, 530 West Main St., Plymouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at
9:30 a.m. in St. Casimir’s Church, Lyndwood, Hanover Township.
   
Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Muhlenburg.
   
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
   
Prayer service will be held Monday.
