Pittston Adult Active Center
The Pittston Active Adult Center is located at 441 N. Main St., Pittston. Hours of operation are 8 a.m to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Free coffee is served from 8:30 to closing. The center now has Wi-Fi available as well as three computers with Internet access.
Exercise classes are offered five days a week free of charge. Zumba Gold is held on Tuesday afternoons for a fee of $2 for members and $3 for non-members.
Dance class, cards, shuffleboard, ceramic classes, crochet club, Wii bowling, needlepoint and much more are offered at the center.
Appointments are now being made for the open enrollment period for prescription drug plans. If you are not satisfied with the plan you currently have, you may switch plans from now until Saturday, Dec. 7 without penalty.
A 4-hour AARP Safe Drivers Refresher Course will be offered fro m10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 at the center. Cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. By taking this course, you may be eligible to receive a discount on your car insurance. Check with your insurance carrier for full details. Pre-registration is necessary by calling the center at 570-655-5561. You must have taken the 8-hour course to register for this refresher course.
Tickets are now on sale for the annual Christmas Party at Jenkins Township Social Hall on Sunday, Dec. 8. Doors open at noon, family-style dinner will be served at 1 p.m. George Tarasik Orchestra will provide music from 2 to 5 p.m. for your dancing or listening pleasure. Cost is $25 per person which includes soda, beer and wine, as well as several door prizes.

The Cosmopolitan Seniors will get together again to celebrate the Christmas Party at 1 p.m. in St. Anthony’s Center on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
The Tuesday, Nov. 12 meeting was attended by 55 members and two guests. Plans were announced for the Christmas dinner and party. Reservations must be made by Wednesday, Nov. 27. Election of officers determined that Ron McAdarra was elected as Vice President, and Vic Malinowski, Terri Mislan and Amy Alpaugh re-elected to their offices. After the business meeting everyone enjoyed refreshments and Bill Kull played patriotic music on the organ. A Thanksgiving day basket was raffled off and won by Tony Matreselva. Bingo was played. The 50/50 winners were Lou Bryja, Rosemary Golenski, Johanna Malinowski, Rose Mary Oliveri, and Bernie Serbin. Joe Kleback won the special game prize, and Johanna Malinowski, Mary Ann Markowski and Ed Stankoski shared the Bingo jackpot.
The Tuesday, Nov. 19 meeting was attended by 48 members and one guest. After the business meeting everyone enjoyed refreshments and Bingo was played. The 50/50 winners were Johanna Malinowski, Evelyn Naples, Bernie Petrasek and Betsie Williams. Johanna Malinowski won the special game. Mary Coleman, Shari Dailey and Frank Onda shared the Jackpot.
