The Wyoming Free Library will conduct its annual fundraiser until December 20. Tickets are 1 for .50, 3 for $1 and 20 for $5. In addition to the Gingerbread House, there will be a few surprises. Pictured is Library Director John Roberts with this year’s house.

Wyoming Hose Company No. 1 is happy to announce that Santa will once again make his yearly tour of the Borough of Wyoming to meet and greet the youngsters of the community. Wyoming Hose Co. No. 1 will provide transportation for Santa as he makes the rounds of the Borough beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday December 13.
Santa and his helpers will pass out Christmas treats to the children he meets along his path. Parents are being advised that the sound of Christmas Music and the sirens of the Emergency Vehicles will herald his approach.
American Legion Post 904 regular monthly meeting will be held December 11 6:30 p.m. at Hose Co # 1 Shoemaker Ave. All ticket returns are due. All members are urged to attend; new members are always welcome.
Toys for Tots
Luzerne Bank at their Branch in Wyoming is collecting “Toys for Tots”. The collection box is in the bank lobby and they will be collecting Toys now until December 15.
The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
Senior Citizens
The Wyoming- West Wyoming Seniors Citizens kicked off the holiday season holding their Christmas Party on Tuesday, December 2 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church Hall. Kand L Caterers served dinner at 1 p.m. and entertainment was by Frankie, the Music Man.
Marian Poccesschi was chairperson of the affair, Donna Poccesschi, Theresa Alexander, Betty O’Hara, Irene Zelinski, Angie Zagursky, Genevieve Rooney and Marie Mattina assisted with the event.
Wyoming Library

The Library has changed its hours. The new hours are Monday – Friday 9 a.m.– 5 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Football Parents
The Wyoming Area Football Parents Association will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, December 10, 7 p.m. at the Wyoming Area Secondary Center in Room 129. Upcoming events and election of the 2009 officers will be held. Parents of all players’ grades 7 thru 12 are invited to attend.
Swetland Homestead
“A celebration of Christmas Past” with all the trimmings will take place at the Swetland Homestead this holiday season. The Historical Society will once again host their Christmas Candlelight tour today from 1 to 5 p.m. The cost for member of the Historical Society is $, non members $5.

Recreation Board
The Wyoming Recreation Board is sponsoring a Children’s’ Christmas Party today, 1pm, in the 10th St. Elementary School Cafeteria. Light refreshments will be served and there will be activities for the children.
Legion Post 904
The American Legion Post 904 will hold their annual Christmas party at Agolino’s
Restaurant. West Pittston at 3:00 pm, December 14.All menu selections and money must be in by the December 11 meeting. The group will be collecting articles to be shipped over seas for the troops they should also be brought to this meeting.
Boy Scout Troop 366
Boy Scout Troop 366 will be selling Sand Candle Kits for Christmas Eve. Cost is $4.50 per dozen. A kit includes 12 ten-hour votive candles, 12 white bags, Sand for the 12 bags and safety instructions. Anyone wishing to purchase a dozen is asked to contact Mrs. Barbara Stahley at 693-1425
Wyoming Notes
Recycling collection for Wyoming borough will be collected on Thursdays. Newspapers and commingled will alternate weeks for pickup. Commingled recycling will be collected on December 11 and 26. Newspapers will be collected on December 18.
Wyoming residents who need to report uncollected garbage or recycling please call 883-0725.
The 2009 garbage stickers are on sale at the Wyoming Borough office. A new garbage contract has been awarded to JP Mascaro which will begin January 2009. All of the services will be the same with the exception of adding a once a month one item bulk collection. The new price for stickers is $180 with the option of paying in half year increments at $90. Seniors over the age of 62 will receive a discount of $10.
Wyoming Borough will hold its monthly council meeting on Tuesday December 9; begin at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers.
Yard waste collection has ended for 2008.
