The Factoryville Sportsmen’s Club will hold its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. This change in schedule is due to the upcoming holiday season. Members are advised that the December meeting is now scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. Prospective members are now required to attend the meeting of their application review.
Paula Piatt, Eastern Sportsmen Organizer for Trout Unlimited, will present “Shared Habitat,” a program focusing on the potential impacts of shale gas drilling and its associated construction activities on fish and wildlife habitats, the sportsmen’s experience, as well as ways sportsmen can preserve the habitat. The program is sponsored by the Lackawanna Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited and will be presented Tuesday, Nov. 19, at their meeting to be held at the Tripp Park Community Center, 2000 Dorothy St., Scranton, at 7 p.m. Open to the public, there is no charge for admission.
Piatt is Trout Unlimited’s Eastern Sportsmen Organizer. An avid fly-fisherman and turkey hunter, Piatt is a Pennsylvania native, having graduated from Lock Haven University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in journalism/media studies. Most recently, she served as associate editor of New York Outdoor News.
Huntington Mills United Sportsmen will hold their 12th annual Coyote Hunt on Jan. 24-26. Hunting begins on Friday, Jan. 24 at 12:01 a.m. Weigh-ins will be held at the Huntington Mills United Sportsmen Clubhouse on 251 Waterton Road in Huntington Mills. Weigh-in times are Friday and Saturday, 6-10 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Grand prize is $1,000, second place is $500 and there is a $2 optional pool for the smallest coyote. There will also be a gun raffle, a 50/50 drawing and a breakfast buffet on Sunday. Entry fee is $25 and must be postmarked or paid by Jan. 22. Entries can be mailed to United Sportsmen Camp 271, P.O.
