After that, Abid left the Penguins to join the Atlanta Thrashers organization and in 2005-06 enjoyed his best AHL season, posting 34 goals, 76 points and 165 penalty minutes in 75 games with the Chicago Wolves. Over the next two seasons, Abid bounced between the AHL and NHL before heading to Europe in 2007.
He has spent the last seven years overseas, playing in Switzerland, Russia, Sweden, Austria and Germany. For his career, Abid appeared in 68 NHL games and scored 14 goals.
