SISTERS ON DEAN’S LIST


Allison and Rebecca Spencer, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Spencer Jr., of Dallas, have both been named to the dean’s list at Mount St. Mary’s University for the spring 2013 semester.


CULVER ON DEAN’S LIST


Taylor Culver, of Harveys Lake, has been named to the dean’s list at Delaware Valley College for the spring 2013 academic semester.


TWO GRADUATE


Deanna Dragon, of Harveys Lake, and Erin Fallon, of Tunkhannock, received degrees from Saint Francis University during its 162nd commencement exercises in Loretto on Sunday, May 5.


Dragon received a Master of Occupational Therapy degree while Fallon received a Bachelor of Arts - Biology degree.


PELLICCIA ON DEAN’S LIST


Lauren M. Pelliccia, of Wyoming, was among more than 600 traditional day and adult evening students from DeSales University named to the spring 2013 dean’s list.


PUGH RECEIVES DEGREE


Janine Pugh, of Tunkhannock, graduated from Clarion University with a Marketing BSBA degree during May 18 commencement ceremonies.


COLLEY ON DEAN’S LIST


Gavin Colley, of Tunkhannock, was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester at Widener University.


The dean’s list recognizes full-time students who earned a grade point average of 3.50 and above for the semester.


MARTIN GRADUATES


Chelsea Martin, of Dallas, received a bachelor of science in health science degree with a minor in psychology from the University of the Sciences during a bachelor’s degree conferment ceremony on Friday, May 17.


GERAGHTY ON DEAN’S LIST


Daniel P. Geraghty, of Shavertown, a junior majoring in engineering and management, was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester at Clarkson University.


Dean’s list students must achieve a minimum 3.25 grade-point average and carry at least 14 credit hours.


FRITZGES RECEIVES DEGREE


Eric Fritzges, of Trucksville, graduated from Elizabethtown College on Saturday, May 18, with a bachelor’s degree in Health & Occupation.


GRIMAUD RECEIVES JURIS DOCTOR


Barbara Grimaud, of Tunkhannock, received a Juris Doctor degree from the Harrisburg campus of Widener Law during spring commencement exercises for its 22nd graduating class.


LCCC NURSING STUDENTS


Back Mountain residents who are members of the 2013 nursing class at Luzerne County Community College are Kristen Yavorski, Shavertown; Kari Ann Williams, Shavertown; Rebecca Vanderveken, Shavertown; Elzbieta Chrzanowski, Shavertown; Michelle Llewellyn, Wyoming; Christopher Habrack, Shavertown; and Jane Nulton, Shavertown.


KING’S PROFS HONORED


Among six King’s College faculty members who recently received teaching awards or were named to established professorships are Dr. Laurie Sterling, of Shavertown, professor of English, who was named the Manus Cooney Distinguished Service Professor and Paul Lindenmuth, of the Back Mountain, associate technical professor of criminal justice and sociology, who was named the recipient of the Rev. Donald Grimes, C.S.C., Annual Award for Service-Learning Teaching Excellence.


BOWMAN ON DEAN’S LIST


Taylor Ann Bowman, of Wyoming, daughter of Dr. Kevin Bowman and Ann James, has been named to the dean’s list at Juniata College for the 2013 spring semester.


Bowman is a 2010 graduate of Dallas Senior High School.


The dean’s list recognizes grade point averages of at least 3.6 out of a possible 4.0.


FOUR ON DEAN’S LIST


The following local residents were among more than 650 students from Saint Francis University named to the spring 2013 dean’s list:


Megan Hine, of Shavertown, a Management major; Michelle Lipski, of Shavertown, a Chemistry major; Nicole Snyder, of Harveys Lake, an Early Childhood Education major; and Rebecca Stull, of Dallas, a Health Science (OT) major.


To achieve dean’s list at Saint Francis University, students must have full-time status and attain a quality point average of at least 3.5 for the given semester.


LEAHIGH ON DEAN’S LIST


Colleen Elizabeth Leahigh, of Dallas, has been named to the dean’s list at James Madison University for the spring 2013 semester.


Students who earn dean’s list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of between 3.5 and 3.899.


Leahigh is a senior whose major is Marketing - BBA.


GRADUATES CUM LAUDE


Meghan Anne Pietraccini, of Dallas, graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Kinesiology - BS from James Madison University during commencement exercises May 4.


MERICLE GRADUATES


Kelly Mericle, of Shavertown, graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelor of Business Administration during a spring commencement ceremony held on Sunday, May 19.


TWO HONORED AT U OF S


Two Dallas area University of Scranton graduates were recognized for academic excellence and outstanding service by the university at commencement.


Michael Ryan Moleski, of Dallas, received the Excellence in Biochemistry Award.


Moleski majored in biochemistry. He is a member of the Health Professions Organization (HPO), chemistry and biology clubs.


A graduate of Holy Redeemer High School, he plans to pursue a master’s degree in biochemistry at The University of Scranton.


Elena Marie Habersky, of Dallas, graduated magna cum laude and received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to Jordan. She also received the Excellence in International Studies Award from the university.


A graduate of Dallas High School, Habersky majored in international studies with minors in philosophy, Arabic and theology and a concentration in peace and justice studies. She is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta (the national honor society for first-year students), Alpha Mu Gamma (the national honor society for foreign languages), Phi Alpha Theta (the national honor society for history), Theta Alpha Kappa (the national honor society for religious studies and theology) and Alpha Sigma Nu (the honor society for Jesuit universities and colleges).


She was a member of the Special Jesuit Liberal Arts Honors Program, the Honors Program and Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.


JONES JOINS LEWITH & FREEMAN


Maribeth Jones has joined the Shavertown office of the Lewith & Freeman team. In her new position with Lewith & Freeman, she will continue to sell real estate and provide marketing services to clients. Additionally, she will assist Lewith & Freeman sales members through her position as Vice President of Strategic Planning.


Jones brings 34 years of experience in all facets of real estate in the Wyoming Valley, from sales and relocation through all levels of management.


A graduate of the Real Estate Institute of Pennsylvania (GRI), Jones is a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) and Certified Residential Broker (CRB) through Realtor’s National Marketing Institute, Chicago. She has owned her own real estate businesses for the past 23 years, most recently serving as an owner and co-owner of Prudential Poggi & Jones for 10 years. She also held the position of Relocation Director with that agency.


TWO ON DEAN’S LIST


Erik Cannon and Christine McCarthy, both of Dallas, have been named to the 2013 spring semester dean’s list at Lafayette College.


Both are graduates of Dallas High School.


RYAN EARNS HONORS


Michael Ryan, of Dallas, has earned honors for the spring semester of the 2012-2013 academic year at the University of New Hampshire.


Students whose grade point average is 3.5 through 3.64 are awarded honors.


JACKSON GRADUATES


Jill Jackson, daughter of Sandra and Ted Jackson, of Shavertown, graduated magna cum laude from Ithaca College in May with a bachelor’s in clinical health sciences.


Named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester, Jackson was inducted into the Alpha Eta National Allied Health and the Phi Kappa National Honor Societies. She also received the Department of Physical Therapy’s Professional Excellence Award given to undergraduates who have exhibited outstanding qualities in the areas of leadership, clinical practice, service and academics.


Jackson is currently serving a physical therapy internship in Casper, Wyoming. She will return to Ithaca College in the fall to begin work on a doctorate in physical therapy, which she plans to receive in 2015.


TWO GRADUATE FROM WIDENER


Shauna Phillips and Amy Vodzak, both of Dallas, earned degrees from Widener University during the annual commencement ceremony on May 18.


Phillips received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and Vodzak received a master of business administration degree in business administration.


MONTROSS GRADUATES


Tyler Montross, of Dallas, graduated with a Associate of Science in Design Technology from LeTourneau University.


LEE ON DEAN’S LIST


Katherine Lee, of Tunkhannock, has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester at Drew University. In order to qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a grade point average of 3.6 or above.


LOCALS ON U OF S DEAN’S LIST


Several Back Mountain students have been named to the dean’s list at The University of Scranton. A student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours to make the dean’s list.

PANZETTA STUDIES IN EUROPE


Carisa Panzetta, of Dallas, is currently participating in a faculty-led study abroad experience to Eastern Europe as part of the Ccllege’s Geographies Series. The trip includes excursions to the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia.


Panzetta is a junior majoring in psychology and criminal justice at King’s College.
