The man apparently fell from the structure near a reservoir, officials say.
BEAR CREEK TWP. – A man was found dead at the base of a dam near a Pennsylvania-American Water Company reservoir Saturday.
The man was pronounced dead by Luzerne County Coroner John P. Corcoran at 1:20 p.m. Corcoran said an autopsy to determine the cause of death will be conducted this afternoon, but it appears at this time that the man fell from the dam.
Corcoran declined to release any additional information about the incident or the victim until after the autopsy is completed.
The dam, known as Big Dam, is located off Bald Mountain Road near Mill Creek Reservoir.
A spokeswoman for Pennsylvania-American Water Company said the company does not know how the man accessed the dam.
“We do have gates at our access points,” Susan Turcmanovich said. “There may be other access points… because there is other property around it”
State Police at Wyoming are investigating the incident.
