Holy Rosary School at 125 Stephenson Street, Duryea, announces the following:

• Bunny Bruch

The school’s annual Bunny Brunch will be held today from noon to 2 p.m. It is open to families with children in pre-school through fourth grades. The school looks forward to saying a special hello to our incoming preschool children and welcoming them into the Holy Rosary School family.

• Stations of the Cross

Stations of the Cross will be held on Friday, April 11 at 8:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church. All are welcome.

• Race for Education Labels due Tomorrow, Monday, April 7.

Labels were sent home in the family folder and should be returned no later than tomorrow. The annual Race for Education will be held on Friday, May 9. Please review your “Kick-off Packet” carefully. Your participation is essential to the success of this fun and beneficial program that provides an excellent opportunity to reduce your tuition for the 2014 – 2015 while fundraising for our school. Volunteers are needed on April 9th, 10th, and 11th in the preschool three and four year old class, and kindergarten through third grades to help students complete their mailers. The homeroom parents from each of those grades will contact you with specific information for your child/ren’s classroom(s). The donation of first class U.S. postage stamps would be greatly appreciated.

• Jeans for Judy

“Jeans for Judy Day” will be held on Wednesday, April 9. It will cost $1 to wear jeans but any additional donations will be greatly appreciated. Please send your donation in an envelope marked “Jeans for Judy.” Judy is a young girl in our community who suffers from: autism, epilepsy, cystic fibrosis, developmental delays, including speech, gross and fine motor skills, Duane’s syndrome in her right eye, bilateral club foot, and attention deficit disorder. Judy’s family is working diligently to obtain a specially trained dog that could help Judy live a better life by making her grandparents aware of seizure, keeping Judy from wondering and getting lost, as well as offering companionship and supervision. Unfortunately, this dog costs in excess of $13,000. With the help of many people they have raised $7,000, but significant funding is needed to make this a reality for a little girl in need. Thank you for your consideration and support of important project.

• Thursday, April 10 is an Early Dismissal

Please note there will be an 11 a.m. dismissal on Thursday due to parent/teacher conferences.

• Thursday is Johnny Rockets Family Fun Night

Information will be sent home about this delicious and super fun family fun night, Johnny Rockets Family Fun Night.

• Clothing donations needed by Greater Pittston Kids’ Closet

The Greater Pittston Kids’ Closet is in great need of children’s clothing, sizes newborn to 16. If you are able to donate any amount of gently use or new clothing, please drop off your donation to the gym during school hours before April 11. The school’s goal is to deliver the clothing before Easter. Please keep in mind that while this is a specific drive for the closet, donations are always needed, and always welcome during any time of year. All donations are made available solely to the children of the Greater Pittston Area.

• Father Daughter Dance

The Father Daughter Dance will be held on Friday, April 25, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Holy Rosary School Gymnasium. Invitations were sent home last week. Light refreshments will be served and music and entertainment provided by Tech Shop DJ’s. A Photo Affair Photography will be available for an optional, reasonably priced keepsake photograph. Girls wear their Sunday best, and choose their special date for the evening (fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, godfathers, uncles, older brothers.) Cost is $10 per person, which includes admission and refreshments. Please turn in your reservation form so we can prepare for what is always a night of fun and happy memories!

• Attention Local Business Owners

Help put your state tax dollars to use in the Diocesan Catholic Schools! PA businesses can receive a 75% tax credit for a 1 year commitment, a 90% tax credit for a 2 year commitment at the K-12 level, and a 100% tax credit at the Pre-K level. Information and applications can be found on the DCED website: www.newpa.com/EITC or www.newpa.com/OSTC. Thank you for your consideration of this extremely important program that helps make Catholic Education more affordable for everyone.

• Labels & Box Tops

Campbell’s Soup labels and Box Tops for Education are being collected at Holy Rosary School. These programs enable us to provide educational resources that may be unaffordable through our regular budget. They offer exciting merchandise like computers, software, sports equipment, reference materials, science and art items, even musical instruments. Please continue your support of these programs by sending in your labels to the school office or by placing them in the church vestibule. If you have any questions, please contact the school’s office. Also, please check labels for expiration dates. They can be sent in immediately and processed before they expire; there is no need to wait until you accumulate a quantity.
