The Abington Heights School District voted, 7-0, to hire eight teachers during its July 16 regular school board meeting.


Jessica Hannan was hired as a temporary full-time German teacher, Thomas Kerrigan was hired as a long-term substitute German teacher, Paula Alu was hired as a full-time temporary elementary school teacher, Heather Savaro was hired as a full-time temporary elementary school teacher, Jaclyn Lewis was hired as a full-time temporary elementary school teacher, Lynn Keeler was hired as a full-time elementary school teacher, Elizabeth Behrens was hired as a long-term substitute elementary school teacher, and Megan Gagliardi was hired as a full=time temporary special education teacher.


The board also voted 7-0 to approve several coaches for the 2014-15 school year: Kendra Bianchi, girls volleyball assistant coach; Krista Heinke, varsity field hockey assistant coach; Michael Ludka, cross country head coach; Roger Jacobs, girls soccer head coach; Michael Cestone, golf head coach; Mary Gromelski, girls varsity swim head coach; Susan Hartman, boys varsity swim head coach; Stephen Peters, varsity wrestling head coach; Kenneth Bianchi, boys varsity basketball head coach; and John Bucci, girls varsity basketball head coach.


In other business, the board …


Approved a contact with Service Boss to provide maintenance and support staff services to the district.


Approved an easement at South Abington Elementary School for a 30X40 concrete pad with pipes that will increase gas pressure to the neighborhood.
