State police to patrol bus stops as part of Operation Safe Stop

The Pennsylvania State Police at Troop R, Dunmore will conduct school bus enforcement/radar duty at various school bus routes/school districts within Lackawanna, Pike, Susquehanna, and Wayne counties pursuant to Operation Safe Stop on October 23.


Additionally, Troop R Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Teams, consisting of an assigned Trooper and at least one Motor Carrier Enforcement Officer, will also conduct school bus/school vehicle safety and mechanical inspections. All commercail vehicles traveling in proximity to these locations are also subject to safety and mechanical inspection.


Under Pennsylvania Title 75, the PA Vehicle Code, Section 3345, failure to stop for or passing thereof a school bus with red flashing lights and side stop signal arm extended, constitiutes a primary offense, punishible by: a $250 fine plus court costs, accrue 5 license points, as well as be suspended for 60 days.
