WILKES-BARRE
   
Democrats schedule spring cocktail party
    The spring cocktail party for the Wilkes-Barre Democratic Committee will be
held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Ramada Plaza Hotel.
   
This year’s chairman is Wilkes-Barre Mayor Thomas McGroarty. Honorary
chairpersons are District Magistrate Martin Kane, Wilkes-Barre Area School
Board President Sally Jervis and fellow school directors Alice Corba and
Michael Rushton. The reception committee will be headed by City Council
Chairman Bernard Mengeringhausen and city Controller Mercedes Leighton.
   
Members of the committee are city councilmen Al Boris, Phil Latinski, Tom
Leighton, Phil McCabe, Jim McCarthy, Mike McGinley; school directors Jim
Atherton, Ed Bienak, Owen Costello, Ellen Smith, Barbara Youngblood; and a
member of the Democratic State Committee.
   
The arrangements committee will be chaired by former 6th district
chairpersons Dorothy Drugan and Charles Flannery, with committee members Brian
Dunn, treasurer; Leona Novack, secretary; Robert Anstett, Laura Brace, Stanley
Chipelski, Richard Chukonis, Jack Evans, Leona Flannery, state committee;
Attorney Carl Frank, Bernard Hummer, Andrew Hustey, Edward Jasonis, Ann Marie
Jewel, Kate Lavery, Bill Lisman, Paul Maher, state committee; Marie McHugh,
former Mayor Tom McLaughlin, Harry Miller, former Mayor Lee Namey, Attorney
Neal O’Donnell, Dr. Thomas O’Donnell, Louise Ott.
   
The door committee will be chaired by Arlene Flannery, with members Dorothy
Drugan, Louise Ott, Linda Posotski, Donna Reilly and Edith Williams.
