Anthony Dopkin, 87, of Watt Street in Duryea died Tuesday at Geisinger
Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township. Born in Old Forge, he was
the son of the late Frank and Anna (Gillus) Dopkin. He was educated in Old
Forge schools. Before his retirement, he was employed by the former Duryea
Woodworking. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Duryea and was a former
member of the parish Holy Name Society. He was preceded in death by his
brothers, Joseph, Peter, Frank and John. Surviving are his wife, the former
Josephine Echalk, with whom he celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in
June; son, John, Silver Spring, Md.; one granddaughter; one
great-granddaughter; sister, Ann Jones, Scranton; nieces and nephews. Funeral
services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral
Home, Inc., 204 Main St., Duryea, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.
in Holy Rosary Church. The Rev. Charles Rokosz will officiate. Interment will
be in the parish cemetery in Duryea. Friends may call from 7 to 9 this
evening. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Rosary
School in Duryea.
