Area teachers are learning about river ecology and the importance of a
buffer zone of trees along river banks in a `Woods, Water and Wildlife’
seminar this week sponsored by the Riverfront Parks Committee. Earlier in the
week, participants donned waders and entered the Susquehanna River to collect
water samples. Wednesday afternoon, Jenn Fela and Heath Hines, of the Luzerne
Conservation District, were able to stay dry as they collected soil samples
near the Market Street Bridge.
