The Keystone College men’s golf team placed third on Tuesday afternoon at the Elmira College Spring Invitational in their final tune-up before this weekend’s Colonial States Athletic Conference Championships. The Giants, who were led by Mike Harris (Factoryville, PA/Lackawanna Trail)’s round of 88 on Tuesday, posted a team score of 383 on the par 72, 6,687-yard course.
Host Elmira won Tuesday’s tournament with a score of 323, four strokes better than runner-up SUNY-Oswego. Keuka College placed fourth on the day with a score of 403, 20 strokes behind Keystone.
Harris placed 13th overall with a score of 88 on the day to lead the Giants, two places ahead of 15th place finisher Race Sick (Tunkhannock, PA/Tunkhannock) who carded a 94 on the day. Zach Fedynich completed the course in 96 strokes to tie for 19th overall while Corey Lewis finished in a tie for 19th with a round of 105.
Keystone will open the two-day CSAC Championships on Friday at the Lebanon Country Club in Lebanon, Pa. with second-round action slated for Saturday. The winner of this weekend’s tournament will earn the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
