S. ABINGTON TWP. — Nicole Turner and Sarah Coolbaugh delivered back-to-back RBI singles in the top of the sixth inning to lead Wyoming Area to a 2-1 win over Abington Heights in a District 2 Class AAA softball quarterfinal Wednesday afternoon.


Abington Heights’ catcher Dominique Emmett provided the Lady Comets run with a solo homer in the bottom of the seventh inning.


Wyoming Area pitcher Nicole Cumbo allowed four hits over seven innings and struck out four without walking a batter.


Emmett, with a single in the first; third baseman Alex Gockley, with a triple in the third; and designated hitter Kaylee DeMatteo with a single in the seventh accounted for the other Abington Heights’ hits.


Lady Comets pitcher Paige Harris scattered five hits over seven innings and struck out four without issuing a walk.
