Emily Coburn and Ken Shields were united in marriage on Sept. 28, 2013, at Heritage Hills Resort, York, Pa. The Honorable Thomas Jordan officiated at the ceremony.


The bride is the daughter of Robert and Elaine Coburn, Wilkes-Barre. She is the granddaughter of William and Irene Coburn and the late John and Genevieve Brady, all of Wilkes-Barre.


The groom is the son of John Shields and Kathy Eberly, Dallastown. He is the grandson of Betty Shields and the late Richard Shields Sr. and Sterling and Audrey Crone, all of York.


The bride was given in marriage by her father. Mollie Nealon, friend of the bride, served as the matron of honor. Beth Murphy, Debbie Silverman and Katie Dethloff, friends of the bride, served as bridesmaids. Lillie Nealon, friend of the bride, served as flower girl.


Jon Wootan, friend of the groom, served as the best man. Gary Pfaff, Garrett Allison, Keith Matthews and Rob Walsh, friends of the groom, served as groomsmen. Connor and Tyler Shields, sons of the groom, and Jack Coburn, nephew of the bride, served as ring bearers. Matthew Coburn, brother of the bride, and Matthew Shields, Nathan Shields and Jason Shields, brothers of the groom, served as ushers.


Readings were given by Matthew Coburn, brother of the bride, and Jason Shields, brother of the groom.


A bridal shower was hosted by the bridesmaids at the Beaumont Inn, Dallas. The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the parents of the groom at Heritage Hills. Following the ceremony, a cocktail hour and reception were held at Heritage Hills, York.


The bride is a 2001 graduate of Bishop Hoban High School and a 2005 graduate of Towson University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mass communications. She is employed by Meritain Health, an Aetna Company, as a marketing coordinator in Baltimore, Md.


The groom is a 1998 graduate of Dallastown High School and a 2000 graduate of the Baltimore County Police Academy. He is employed as a police officer by the Baltimore County Police Department. Ken is also the owner of TYCO Professional Security, LLC.


Following the wedding, the couple honeymooned in Jamaica. They reside in York.
