Lindsay Margaret Smith and John Michael Stavish were united in marriage on May 11, 2013, at St. Mary’s Church of the Immaculate Conception, Wilkes-Barre, by the Rev. Monsignor Thomas V. Banick.
The bride is the daughter of William and Anne Marie Smith, Plains Township. She is the granddaughter of Judy Smith, Wilkes-Barre; the late William Smith; and the late Dominic and Carmella Altavilla.
The groom is the son of Raymond and Joan Stavish, Sugar Notch. He is the grandson of Ada Kresge, Mountain Top; the late Edward Kresge; and the late Raymond and Theresa Stavish.
The bride was given away by her father. She chose her cousin, Mindy Altavilla, as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Megan Graham, cousin of the bride; Janet Stavish, sister-in-law of the groom; and Kaitlyn Allegrucci and Linda Mullen, friends of the bride.
The groom chose his brother, Ryan Stavish, as his best man. Groomsmen were Ray Stavish, brother of the groom; Michael Smith, brother of the bride; Tanner Smith, cousin of the bride; and Scott Wasik, friend of the groom. Ringbearer was Zachary Stavish, nephew and godson of the groom.
Scripture readings were given by Gina Marsicano, godmother of the bride, and Ron Stavish, cousin of the groom. Petitions were read by Donna Engle, aunt of the groom. Offertory gifts were presented by Judy Smith and Ada Kresge, grandmothers of the bride and groom, respectively.
The bride was honored by a bridal shower hosted by the mothers of the bride and groom at The Ramada Inn, Wilkes-Barre. The parents of the bride and groom hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Café, Plains Township. An evening cocktail hour and reception were held at Irem Country Club, Dallas.
The bride is a 2005 graduate of James M. Coughlin High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology, with minors in chemistry and English, from Misericordia University in 2009. She earned her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from King’s College in 2012. She is employed as a physician assistant at Dallas Family Practice, Dallas.
The groom is a 2001 graduate of Hanover Area High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in administration of justice from Penn State University in 2007. He is employed by Kellogg’s as a market manager.
The couple honeymooned to Turks and Caicos. They reside in Shavertown with their dog, Brady.
