Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ended a season-worst five-game losing streak with a 5-0 win over Columbus on Sunday afternoon at PNC Field. The RailRiders also broke a 14-game losing streak to the Clippers dating back to April of last season.

RailRiders at the plate: Antoan Richardson hit a leadoff homer in the first inning as part of a two-hit, two-RBI afternoon. Kyle Roller also knocked in two runs with home run No. 14 of the season; he also added a single. Rob Refsnyder added a pair of singles and drove in a run with a sac fly.

RailRiders on the mound: Nik Turley had his best start as a RailRider pitching 5 1/3 shutout innings allowing just two hits, both coming in the sixth inning; he also walked four, but improved his record to 2-2. Nick Rumbelow followed Turley by tossing 1 2/3 scoreless frames and not allowing any hits, but walked a pair. Tyler Webb turned in a scoreless eighth, while Edgmer Escalona pitched the ninth allowing one run on two hits.

Riding the Rails: Catcher John Ryan Murphy was placed on the disabled list on Sunday, while fellow backstop Francisco Arcia was promoted from Trenton.

Avoiding historic loss: With the win the RailRiders avoided being the just second team in the 25-year history of the franchise to lose every game to one opponent during the whole season. The only time it occurred was in the franchise’s inaugural year, 1989 when the Red Barons lost every game to Buffalo.
