The RailRiders’ longest losing streak since 2011 ended at seven straight on Sunday after defeating Durham 7-3 for their first home win since May 11.
RailRiders at the plate: The team put up nine hits and scored more than six runs for the first time since April 22. Zoilo Almonte hit a two-run home run, his fourth of the season. Thomas Neal singled in the eighth and has hit safely in 10 of 14 games since being activated from the disabled list on May 11. Almonte and Ronnier Mustelier each had two hits. Catcher Bobby Wilson had one hit and walked three times.
RailRiders on the mound: Chris Bootcheck (5-0) picked up the win going six innings allowing two earned runs on seven hits for his seventh quality start this season in nine games. Clay Rapada threw a perfect seventh. Chase Whitley pitched the eighth giving up a run on three hits, while Sam Demel tossed a perfect ninth.

Riding the Rails: No transactions were made on Sunday, but New York designated outfielder Ben Francisco for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for pitcher David Huff. Francisco will have to clear waivers then accept an assignment to Triple-A before he would end up in a RailRiders uniform.
Bulling the RailRiders: Former SWB Yankee Shelley Duncan had the day off for the Bulls, while Montrose grad Rich Thompson went 1-for-5 with a single, run scored and stolen bases. In the series, Duncan was 4-for-12 with a home run and three RBI. Thompson concluded the series near his hometown going 3-for-12 with four stolen bases.
