Joan Sabo York, 73, of the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at home.
She was born March 26, 1936, in Carteret, N.J., a daughter of the late Chester Filipski and Helen Sabo Filipski. She resided in Elizabeth and Iselin, N.J., prior to moving to the Wilkes-Barre area 13 years ago. Formerly, she was employed at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center, Edison, N.J.
Surviving are her daughters, Cheryl Ann Veglia and her husband, Thomas; Darlene York, with whom she resided; granddaughter, Tiffany Rose Veglia; former husband, Henry E. York; and best friend and loving dog, Kahlua.
Relatives and friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in Woodbridge Memorial Cemetery, Woodbridge, N.J.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA of Luzerne County, 524 E. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
