THIS IS QUITE the week. It starts with a certain big football game and ends with Valentine’s Day and in between there will be a lot of heartburn — and if you’re a fan of the losing team, perhaps heartache, too.
Plenty of area bars and eateries are offering affordable enticements to lure you to watch the big game today. Here are a few:
• Starting at 5:30 p.m., appetizers are half off and you can get a 22-ounce Coors Light draft for $2.50 at Smokey Bones. The beer special runs every Sunday through February.
• Two bars in Luzerne have good offers. The Rock Bar has $1 Bud Light drafts and 35 cent clams. Head to Rhythm and Brews where $15 lets you enjoy both a pre-game buffet and a half-time buffet. They’re also giving away a 32-inch television and football jerseys.
• Ole Tyme Charley’s in Plains Township has a free halftime buffet for patrons.
• Goodfellas in Scranton has an all-you-can-eat boneless wing buffet for $5 for the entire game.
• Kildare’s in Scranton has an all-you-can-eat and drink $25 buffet and domestic drafts deal.
You may want to head to Price Chopper and grab a box of Prevacid 24-hour heartburn medication. A 14-count pack is on sale for $10.95 and there’s a $2 off coupon in today’s inserts.
Keep a computer close by when you watch the game and you could win a pair of Dockers soft khakis. After you see the Dockers commercial “Men Without Pants,” be among the first to log on to http://us.dockers.com and register; 2,010 pairs of pants will be given away.
Need some socks, too? Hanes is giving away 100 pairs each Friday starting at 12:01 a.m. through March 26. Just be one of the first 100 to go here: www.hanescruisegiveaway.com and sign up for a chance to win a five-night cruise, too. Those khakis and socks would be nice things to pack for the journey.
I came across a great site just in time for Valentine’s Day. It’s http://promotionalcodes.com and it lists tons of online Web sites and gives you free promotional codes that, when entered at checkout from those sites, save you money. Check it out before you make any online purchases.
A few codes will help with some Valentine’s Day purchases. They include:
• Get 20 percent off your floral purchase at http://www.fleurop.com when you enter the code “SMARTS20.”
• Get 15 percent off your chocolate purchase at http://shop.ghirardelli.com when you enter “AA15.”
• Get $5 off, 15 percent off or a free vase and chocolates when you place any orders that are more than $29.99 at www.ProFlowers.com. Choose your savings when you log on to the site. No code required.
• Get 15 percent off any purchase on www.1800baskets.com when you enter the code “WINNER.”
