Student backs teachers in union squabble with bishop

I am writing in support of my teachers, whose union was not recognized by Bishop Joseph Martino.

I have attended Catholic schools for more than 12 years and would be hard-pressed to think of a teacher who didn’t have a positive influence on my life.

These teachers are the backbone of Catholic education and should be treated fairly and justly.

Unfortunately, it appears that our bishop does not feel the same way.

His actions are close-minded and his unwillingness to compromise is inexcusable.

My teachers deserve the dignity of having fair representation that is in their best interest.

It is my hope that this situation will be resolved in an amicable manner true to the teachings of the Catholic Church.

My prayers are with my teachers and the bishop.

I hope that they will come to an agreement that is right for both parties involved.
