I am one of the folks who has been working for health care reform for the past year. I am very upset and disillusioned at how our government is dealing with this situation.
Health care must be affordable to all Americans. The original bill, H.R. 3200, was a very good bill. I was one of the people who read and listened to it for 15 hours on Courthouse Square in Scranton. It seems the finish line for reform keeps getting farther away.
I see where the Senate bill falls far short of holding insurance companies accountable, reining in their costs and preventing them from denying care.
If we do not have a choice of a public option, premiums will be higher and insurers won’t have to compete with a plan that puts our health ahead of profits. The Senate bill also allows annual benefit caps that increase the risk of medical bankruptcy. The bill puts states in charge of setting up and running the new exchanges. This seems like it will be more costly for the states and result in weak consumer protections in states in which there is political opposition to reform from governors.
I am very upset with our congressmen and senators. I would encourage them to start thinking about the people and stop playing games with people’s lives. We need to finish health reform and do it right.
In the 2010 election for the U.S. House of Representatives, my good friend and fellow conservative Dr. David Madeira will “reclaim the seat for the people.”
Incumbent Chris Carney, a self-proclaimed “Blue Dog Democrat” is actually an Obama-liberal in disguise. Carney likes to pacify liberals and conservatives, in the hope of sliding by another election. Carney supports the socialized health care of Obama, the tax-and-spend policies of the radical left, and he puts on a two-faced mask when it comes to social issues, which annoys the conservative right.
Dave Madeira will fight for the life of the unborn child, vote for lower taxes on behalf of the small business owner and do everything possible to support our men and women in the military.
Please join me in electing Dave Madeira to the U.S. Congress.
