Tabit performed at Carnegie Hall in April

Leanne Tabit, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Tabit, Plains, recently performed in the Northeast PA Music Teachers Association’s 2008 Carnegie Hall Recital on April 5. Leanne performed in her 7th National Guild of Piano Auditions in June. She has recently earned a Gold Trophy in the National Federation of Music Clubs. On May 22, 2008, Leanne received a Resolution from Luzerne County presented by the Luzerne County Commissioners at their monthly meeting at the Plymouth Borough Building. Leanne will be an eighth grade student at Good Shepherd Academy.

Leanne is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Balent, Dupont, and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Tabit. She studies the piano with Valerie Babiarz Grabiec, NCTM of Avoca.

Happy Birthday-

Happy 16th Birthday to Joseph F. Coyne V of Duryea is celebrating today, August 3.

Nora English will celebrate on August 5.

Annemarie Butera of Jenkins Township will celebrate with her family on August 3.

Ryan Barhight of Hughestown will celebrate on August 7.

Sue Best of Pittston will celebrate on August 9.

New Arrival-

A boy was born to Angel Kepp of Pittston on July 23.

A girl was born to Taylor Segars and Ursinio O’Neal of Duryea on July 23.

A boy was born to Samantha McCracken and Alfred Waikowiak of Avoca on July 24.

A boy was born to Joy Ostrander, Pittston and Lonnie Seaman of West Pittston, July 12, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Honor Student –

Rachael Solano, daughter of Frederick and Joan Solano, received High Honors at Wyoming Area Catholic. She just completed fourth grade and is anxiously awaiting the start of fifth grade.

Dean’s List-

Stephanie M. Konecke of Wyoming has been named to the dean’s list at Virginia Tech. Stephanie is majoring in chemistry in the College of Science.

Alexandra Grant of Duryea has been named to the spring 2008 semester’s dean’s list at Loyola University in New Orleans.

Kristen Baumes, a freshman at King’s College, has attained the Dean’s List for this past fall and spring semesters. She is pursuing a degree in Business Administration. Kristen is a member of the Lady Monarchs Basketball Team. She is the daughter of Paul and Patricia Baumes of Hughestown.

David Seitzinger of Wyoming has earned a place on West Virginia University’s School of Pharmacy Dean’s List for the Spring 2008 semester. Only students with a GPA of 3.5 or more earn this distinction. David is in his second year in the Doctorate of Pharmacy program.

Rob Sutkowski has been informed by the University of Pittsburgh School of Arts and Sciences that he has attained the dean’s list for the spring semester. He is the son of Robert and Maureen Sutkowski.

Nicholas J. Hetro of Wyoming has been named to the dean’s list at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a sophomore engineering major.

Charles J. Salvo of Pittston Township has been named to the dean’s list at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a junior chemistry major.

Danielle S. Carr of Exeter has been named to the dean’s list at Saint Joseph’s University.

Jessica A. Scalzo of Pittston has been named to the dean’s list at Saint Joseph’s University.

Jessica L. Donahue of Pittston has been named to the dean’s list at Saint Joseph’s University.

The following students were named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the University of the Sciences in Philadlphia:

Nina Capitano of Hughestown, a doctor of pharmacy student.

Maria Ranieli of Pittston, a doctor of pharmacy student.

Vincent Peck of Pittston, a health sciences student.

Erin Chesnavich of Pittston, a biology student.

Breanna Belotti of Pittston has been named to the dean’s list for the spring of 2008 at Geneva College. Breanna is the daughter of Leonard and Mary Belotti. She is a sophomore majoring in biology.

Recent Grad-

Kelsey Sharp, former resident of Pittston, daughter of Brent and Sherry Sharp, granddaughter of Len and Sharon Ziobro, graduated from Spencerport High School in Rochester, NY. Kelsey is a High Honor Roll student whose activities included, class treasurer, student council, varsity softball, jazz, concert and wind ensemble bands, and advanced placement and honor roll courses.

Kelsey will attend St. John Fisher College, in Rochester NY where she has been awarded an Academic Merit Scholarship in recognition of her outstanding academic achievements. She will study nursing, with the eventual goal of attaining a Masters Degree in Nurse Anesthesia.
