Deck the Halls with the live symphonic music of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic under the direction of Music Director Lawrence Loh as they perform their annual Holiday concerts, Friday, December5 at the Scranton Cultural Center in Scranton and again on Saturday, December6 at 7 p.m. at the F.M. Kirby Center in Wilkes-Barre. Both concerts begin at 7 p.m.
These Holiday shows have been a time-honored tradition in northeast Pennsylvania for over 33 years and will feature Sporano, Laura Ayres, The Kantorei (children’s) Choir of the Choral Society of Northeast Pennsylvania, the Choral Society of Northeast Pennsylvania, Ballet Northeast and Ballet Theatre of Scranton with their Parade of the Wooden Soldiers and the jingle bell girls kick line.
American Legion Brennan Regan Post 585, Duryea will hold their annual children’s Christmas party on December 13 at 1 p.m. Members and social members are urged to sign up children and grandchildren aged one to ten on the sign up board. The board will be taken down on December 9. Tickets can be obtained at the bar.
As part of an organization-wide charitable effort, United Methodist Homes’ Wesley Village Campus, 209 Roberts Road in Pittston, will collect canned goods and other non-perishable staple items until Christmas. Collected items will be donated to the Greater Pittston Food Pantry. Drop-off locations on the Wesley Village Campus include the main entrances of Myers Manor, Anderson Personal Care Facility and the Partridge-Tippett Nursing Facility.
The San Cataldo Society of Pittston is sponsoring a bus trip to New York City, Saturday, December 6. The cost is $27.00 per person. The bus will depart from Wegman’s. The Friends of the Pittston Memorial Library are having a fundraiser at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore, Arena Hub Plaza. It will be held on December 5 and 6 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
