Miss UNICO Pageant scheduled Nov. 12

President of the Wilkes Barre chapter of UNICO David Fusco announces that this year’s Miss UNICO Pageant will be held at the Woodlands Inn & Resort on Wednesday, November 12, at 6:00 p.m.

The pageant will feature representatives from more than 15 local high schools.

Miss UNICO and the first and second runner up will receive a monetary gift. The other contestants will also receive gifts.

The chairman of the 2008 Miss UNICO Pageant is Atty. Jarrett J. Ferentino.

He is a partner with the law firm of Pugliese, Finnegan and Shaffer and serves an Assistant District Attorney in Luzerne County. He serves as First Vice President of UNICO.

The pageant is being co-chaired by Leo Sperazza and John Augustine.

The Miss UNICO pageant will be hosted by Kristi Capel the weather anchor for WBRE Eyewitness News from 5 to 7 a.m., 11 a.m. and WYOU News at Noon.

Capel grew up in Northern Kentucky.

She moved to Missouri on a college volleyball scholarship to Evangel University earning a degree in broadcasting. While in college, she interned in Cincinnati, Ohio, at WCPO and at KSPR News in Springfield, Missouri.

She won the title of “Miss Missouri USA 2006” and represented Missouri at the 2006 Miss USA pageant.

The Miss UNICO pageant marks several weeks of UNICO events all leading up to the 2008 Annual UNICO Football Game being held at the Wilkes-Barre Area stadium Nov. 26 with pre-game at 6 p.m. and kick off at 7 p.m . The cost is $5.00.

Miss UNICO and all of the contestants will represent their schools at the game.

This year’s game chairman is Attorney William F. Anzalone.

UNICO raises funds through its game and surrounding events and contributes more than $30,000 annually to local charities and organizations around Northeastern Pennsylvania. .
