La Leche meeting
The Greater Pittston La Leche League, affiliated with La Leche League International and providing breastfeeding information and support to families in the Wyoming Valley since 1979, will meet Tuesday, December 9 at 10:00 a.m. at the Saint Maria Goretti Church, 42 Redwood Drive, Laflin. Meetings are held in the lower level of the Church building on the second Tuesday of each month. The Church is easily accessed from Route 315 and Laflin Road.
Eye Bank to meet this Thursday
The Upper Valley Eye Bank District 14-W will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, December 4 at 7 p.m. at the Association of the Blind, Wyoming Avenue Exeter. Exeter Lions Club is sponsoring this meeting. President Eileen Yurish will preside.
West Scranton High School planning 50th reunion
The West Scranton High School class of 1959 Reunion Committee was hosted by Albert and Dottie Magnotta at their home in Moscow on October 20th to prepare to announce their final plans.
Christmas dinner this Tuesday for Cosmo Seniors
The Cosmopolitan Seniors and their guests will gather at St. Cecilia’s Parish Center on Tuesday, December 2, for their annual Christmas dinner, which will be served at 12 noon.
Pearl Harbor Day ceremony in Duryea
Pearl Harbor Day is December 7, the 67th anniversary of “the day that will live in infamy”. Members of American Legion Brennan Regan Post 585, Duryea, will meet at the post home at 10:30 a.m. and proceed at 10:45 to the VFW Post 1227.
Group attempts to re-start a closed Lions Club
The seemingly impossible task of re-starting a closed Lions Club, the Kingston Township club, moved a step closer to fruition this past week. The organizers, members of the District 14-W collection of 40 clubs who call themselves TEAM Lions, held another meeting.
Dziak to speak to archaeology group

The Pittston Area Class of 1990 has set its first reunion planning meeting for a reunion to mark its tenth anniversary of graduation.

Dupont Lions to hold Food Drive
The Dupont Lions Count on the community for their support during our only fund drive, buying a ticket supports many of the Dupont Lion Projects: Halloween Safety Stations, Christmas Lighting project, Easter Egg Hunt. Historical Society meets Wednesday
The first of special meetings of the Greater Pittston Historical Society will be held on Wednesday, September 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the studio/meeting room, fourth floor of the Overlook Professional Center (former Pittston Hospital). The purpose for the meeting is to prepare for the upcoming “Walkway Through Our Past” program to be held at Riverfront Park (behind Cooper’s Seafood) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 4. The Society will be hosting a Knox Mine Disaster Site discussion and walking tour along with several displays of Greater Pittston history. Anyone interested is encouraged to attend or call 654-6209.
