Greater Pittston Friendly Sons of St. Patrick President Patrick M. Bilbow announced this week that Final Ticket Sales will be held this week for the 96th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Banquet. Members of the Greater Pittston Friendly Sons of St. Patrick will be at the K of C on Wednesday night to finalize ticket sales and seating for all tables. The Knights of Columbus President John F. Kennedy Council 372is holding a Homemade Haluski Sale on Fridays during Lent. Serving take-outs from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Council Home located at 55 South Main Street in Pittston. The cost is $3.00 for a 16 oz container. The Moosic Lions Club will be hosting a Lenten Hoagie and Clam Chowder Sale on Fridays during Lent at the Moosic Youth Center, 600 Main St. The cost for clam chowder is $6 a quart or $3 a pint and tuna hoagies are $4. The sale runs from 11 a.m. till sell out. Advance orders can be placed by calling 575-5565 or 451-1927 or e-mail at jogan44@msn.com. Delivery is available for orders of 8 items or more. Proceeds benefit the Club’s annual Easter Egg Hunt as well as other community projects.

The members of the Pittston Township Volunteer Fire Department announce that the Annual Fund Drive is underway.
The members of the fire department are asking that each household in the township contribute $25 or more to this year’s drive. If you have not received a donation request envelope in the mail, please call 654-2503 and one will be sent to you.
The Dupont Lions will hold a meeting on March 8 at 6:30 at the VFW in Dupont, all members are reminded to bring a little something for a basket of cheer to be chanced off at the District Convention. New members are always welcome

The Class of 1955 Pittston Central Catholic High School 1955 will have our monthly meeting at Valenti’s Restaurant Wyoming, Exeter on Tuesday, March 9 at 6:30 p.m. They are planning our 55th class reunion and we need your input. After a two-month winter break, the Jenkins Township Senior Citizens’ organization will resume their regular monthly meetings. The first meeting of 2010 will be held at the Jenkins Township Fire Hall on Tuesday, March 11.
Since a pizza party will be held, the time of the meeting shall be 6:00 pm. We look forward to seeing everyone following our break. New members are always welcome.

The March Dinner Meeting of the Italian American Association of Luzerne County will be held on Thursday, March 18, at Genetti Hotel and Convention Center, Wilkes-Barre with arrival time at 6 p.m. Dinner served at 6:30 p.m.

The Women’s Auxiliary of Post 477, Pittston, meeting dates have changed for March and April. The date for the March meeting has changed from March 7 to March14 at 2p.m., and the April 4th (Easter) meeting is changed to April 11 at 2p.m. at the Post home on Vine Street, Pittston.
Retired Public Employees of Pennsylvania will hold a meeting Thursday, March 18, at 2 p.m. at the Luzerne County Parks and Recreation Building, 2001 Wyoming Avenue located next to the Forty Fort Airport. All former members and members and their spouses are requested to attend. Refreshments will be service. Lucille Maziarz will preside.
The Dupont V.F.W. Post 4909 Home Association will hold its annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner Dance on Saturday, March 13 at the Post Home 401-403 Main Street Dupont.
A dinner buffet will be served from 7:30 – 8:45 p.m. the Fantastic “Gary Dee and Co” will be playing for your Dancing and Listening pleasure from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The bar will be open from 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Great door prizes will be awarded.

Applications are now being taken for the Music Box Theatre Academy, a musical theatre workshop for students ages 13 to 18. Tuition: $275. Sessions begin April 27. Students will perform Disney’s High School Musical 2 on June 18, 19, and 20.

The Tunkhannock Area Middle School will sponsor a Spring Craft Show on Saturday, March 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a bake sale and refreshments offered.
The City of Pittston in conjunction with the Pittston City Fire Department and the Pittston City Police Department will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt and Bunny visit on Saturday, March 27 at Jefferson Park, New Street. The event will be held rain or shine. This event is open to children up to 12 years of age and are residents of the City of Pittston. The Easter Bunny will arrive on a fire truck to greet the children at 11 a.m. The children will be treated to a visit with the Easter Bunny who will hand out a treat to the children. Parents will also have an opportunity to take pictures if they wish. The annual Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Hughestown Police Department and Hughestown Lions Club will be held Saturday, April 3 at 1 p.m. at the pavilion in Hughestown. Two bicycles will be given away along with prizes and candy for the children in attendance. In case of inclement weather the Easter egg hunt will be moved to the Hughestown Hose Company.
On Saturday, April 17, a 59th Annual Concert “A Tribute to Ole’ Blue Eyes” will be given by the Wilkes-Barre Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society at 7:30 p.m. at Wyoming Area High School, Exeter, featuring the “Wyoming Valley Barbershop Harmony Chorus”, “Sound ‘n’ Great” Quartet and Guests: “Frank the Dog”, Mid-Atlantic District Quartet and Wyoming Area High School Chorus.
