PSEA conducts fall meeting

Luzerne County Chapter of PSEA-Retired recently conducted their Fall Luncheon at the East Mountain Inn in Wilkes-Barre. More than sixty members were in attendance to hear updates on critical issues, to hear a presentation by Rabbi Larry Kaplan and to elect delegates to the first ever PSEA-R House of Delegates to be held in May in State College.

Chapter President Shirley Judge called the meeting to order and welcomed all in attendance. Region President Mary Moran conducted the business session, reporting on updates from PSEA on critical issues facing retirees.

Rabbi Larry Kaplan made a presentation on maintaining a happy disposition. Kaplan explained happiness is based on our expectations and comes from within. Kaplan reminded those in attendance, everyone has problems and there is little chance of a perfectly happy life. Most important is for people to be thankful for what they have and this will raise a feeling of happiness. Kaplan also said doing good deeds for others has shown to raise the internal happiness in people. He concluded by asking that we make a list of those things in our lives that make us happy and those that make us unhappy. He assured all that the happiness list will far outweigh the negative.
