A two-day snowstorm that dropped anywhere from a foot to 20 inches of snow on Northeastern Pennsylvania left Greater Pittston buried in white but also created some beautiful sights, such as these captured by phtographer Bill Tarutis.

The frozen tomato sculpture at the corner of Main and William streets on Thursday afternoon.

The heavy concentration of iron hydroxide, often called "Yellow Boy," of the Lackawanna River provides quite a contrast to the snow covered trees as viewed from the Coxton Road bridge on Thursday afternoon.

Interestingly, Tarutis, who has a PhD. and teaches at Lackawanna College, did his doctoral thesis on the iron hydroxide shown in the photo of the Lackawanna River at the bottom of the page.
