Tomato Queen contestants called

Single young ladies between the ages of 14 and 19 years old are urged to consider the chance to compete for the 2010 Miss Tomato Festival Queen title on August 21.

Great prizes are awarded the winner and gifts are presented to all. A $500 cash scholarship goes to the winner and a $250 cash college scholarship to the first runner-up.

Scoring is based on interview, stage performance of some type – anything in good taste, from a commercial for the Festival to a song, dance – and poise and appearance. Entrants are not required to be from the Pittston area.

Deadline to enter is August 11. There is a $30 entrance fee and proof of age is required.

Little Miss, Mister

The Little Miss and Little Mister Tomato contest will be held Sunday, August 22 at 11 a.m. at the Festival.

All contestants are asked to be at the festival band shell by 10:30 a.m.

The first category, Little Miss Pittston Tomato is open to girls, two to six years old.

The second category, Little Mister Pittston Tomato is open to boys two to six years old.

The categories will be judged with 50 points for beauty and 50 points for personality.

The children are asked to wear something they would wear to a day at the Tomato Festival.

One winner will be chosen in each category with one runner-up. Entry fee is $5 and prizes will be awarded.

Checks should be made payable to the Pittston Tomato Festival, Inc. Deadline for entries is August 18.

Chairperson for the event is Angel Noone.

Applications including name, age, sex, address, phone, and parent/guardian signature should be forwarded to Angel Noone, 36 Center Street, Pittston, Pa 18640.
