Elena is instructed on the use of PSP radar guns.

Elena and 51 other cadets were chosen from a pool of more than 1,500 teens who participated in 26 Camp Cadet programs last year. The Honor Camp was created in 1998 as a reward for the top cadets from each local program. Elena attended the Troop P Camp in 2008.

From August 2 thru August 8, the teen cadets lived at the PSP Academy in Hershey and lived the lives of actual PSP Cadets. Academy staff taught the cadets criminal justice, police skills, use of force and other related topics. The camp included team problem-solving activities, sports and physical training. Visits to the Capitol, Governor’s residence, state police headquarters and Hershey’s Chocolate World were highlights of the camp.

Elena is a junior at Wyoming Area Secondary Center where she plays for the Lady Warriors Volleyball team. She is the daughter of Lisa and Nick DeAngelo, Wyoming. She has two sisters, Daniella and Julianna.

Her grandparents are Elizabeth Tocheny, Exeter, and Kate DeAngelo, Exeter, and the late William Tocheny and Nicholas DeAngelo, both formerly from Exeter.
