DUPONT
The blessing of animals will be offered today, October 5, at 12:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in the rear parking lot. All are welcome.
October will be a busy month for The Dupont Lions. Some of the things they have planned are: Oct.13, a leader dog seminar, at the VFW; Sunday, Oct.19, White Cane Day. The Lions will be out at the Hub in Dupont and collecting money for white cane. From now till Nov.17 the Lions will be selling tickets for the community fund raiser. You can also stop by any of the business around the "Hub" and buy a ticket or see any Lion to purchase one. Pictured is Chris Kalmanowicz.
The Ladies Auxiliary of Przybytek-Kundlas VFW Post 4909, Dupont will hold their monthly meeting in Tuesday, October 7, at 7:00 p.m. at the post home. President Margaret Best will preside.
Dupont Council regular monthly meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, in the James Cocco Council Chambers at the Municipal Building.
Dupont Borough, in cooperation with Luzerne County, will conduct a tire recycling program on October 18.
Residents must call the borough office to register for pickup by our street department on Friday, October 17.
The borough is limited to 200 tires.
Dupont Borough Council, in conjunction with area organizations, will have a Halloween event at the pavilion at the park on Friday, October 31, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The CCD Program at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church began classes on Monday, September 29, from 6:00 to 7:0 p.m. in the Sacred Heart School and continues each Monday.
All students are asked to meet in the church prior to 6:00 p.m. for opening prayer and classroom assignments. Class this year will be held in the former kindergarten located in the convent‘s lower level.
Classes will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. and conclude at 7:00 p.m. every Monday evening.
All students will be dismissed to the courtyard between the church and new school building after class for parent pickup.
If you have not registered for CCD you will be able to sign up prior to the start of the class, registration will take place in the vestibule of the church from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Meeting schedule for the month of October for the Holy Mother of Sorrows Church:

The Women’s Society of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church will meet on Tuesday, October 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the church hall.
The Parish Finance Council of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church will meet on Thursday, October 9, from 7:00 to 9:00.
The Senior Outreach of Sacred Heart of Jesus is sponsoring a Senior Bingo on Sunday, October 26, from 1:00 to 4:00 in the church hall.
There is no admittance charge. Refreshments will be served.
All parishioners 60 or older are welcomed to attend.
The Senior Outreach is also planning a Bake Sale the weekend of November 1 and 2 which will take place in the church hall after all the weekend Masses. Committee members will be accepting baked good donations in the church hall starting at 1:00 on Saturday, November 1.
The Bake Sale proceeds will fund senior outreach activities, such as, bulletin mailings, Christmas gifts.
It has been reported to Borough Officials that there have been suspicious individuals trespassing on residents’ property and rummaging through items left outside.
Please be attentive and report any suspicious activities immediately to police.
Dupont Service schedule for the week of October 5 is as follows:
Monday, Oct. 6 - blue refuse bags;
Tuesday, Oct. 7 - yard waste;
Wednesday, Oct. 8 – recycling of newspapers and corrugated boxes.
Anyone needing a special pickup of yard waste can contact the borough office for special arrangements.
Also note that during the fall months residents are asked to keep leaves cleaned from borough streets. During the rains the leaves will collect into the storm drains causing water problems on the roadways.
Resident cooperation in this matter will prevent expenses for the street department workers.
Additional refuse bags are available at the Hub, 2 Bear Creek Rd. after regular municipal hours and on weekends.
