Borough adds semi-marked police vehicle to fleet

The Exeter Borough Police Department recently added a semi-marked police cruiser to its fleet.

This vehicle is a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor with low mileage, which was purchased from C.Pizzano Auto Sales in Wyoming. This vehicle is specially equipped with emergency lighting that is not readily visible until activated, a stealth lettering system that is only visible at nighttime and a fiberglass prisoner transport system designed for officer safety.

Council Meeting

Exeter Borough Council will hold a budget meeting on October 13 at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend

Zoning Hearing

The third hearing to consider a zoning variance for the proposed Wal-Mart development is scheduled for Tuesday October 27, 6 p.m. at Wyoming Area High School.

Lions Club

The Exeter Lions Club recently purchased 64 PENNDOT approved street signs for Exeter Borough. Toni Valenti, Lion president at the time wanted to organize a project to aid the borough. Valenti coordinated the fundraising for the project along with the members of the Lions Club.

Softball Parents

The Wyoming Area Softball Parents will be holding their first meeting for the upcoming season on Wednesday night, October 14, at 7 p.m. at Sabatini’s Pizza in Exeter. All parents of softball players in grades 7 through 12 are encouraged to attend. Planning for this season’s events will take place. For any questions, call Drew at 655-8756

Quasquicentennial

The Exeter Borough Quasquicentennial Committee will hold a meeting on Wednesday, October 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Borough Building at 1101 Wyoming Avenue. The meeting will be held upstairs in Council Chambers. A report will be given on the bazaar and the yard sale held on September 12. All committee members and anyone else interested are asked to attend.

Basketball Parents

Wyoming Area Boys Basketball Parents Association will meet on Sunday, October 11 at 6 p.m. in the West Pittston Borough Building. All parents of player in grades 7th through 12th are urged to attend. Plans for the upcoming season, plus meet the Warriors are on the agenda.

Football Parents

The Wyoming Area Senior Football Players and Senior Marching Band Members will be honoring their parents prior to the home game on Friday, October 23. Parents are asked to report to the Football Spirit Stand promptly at 6 p.m. The ceremony will begin at approximately 6:15 p.m. Please call Mary Ann Murphy with any questions at 654-3627. Judge of Elections

John J. Martin will not be able to accept the position of Judge of Elections in Exeter Ward 2 due to a conflict of interest with his job with the Federal Government.

Golden Years

The October meeting of the Golden Years Social and Travel Club of Exeter will be held on Tuesday, October 13 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Anthony’s Hall, Exeter. Sam DeSalvo will preside. Club members will enjoy hoagies and home-made baked treatsas well as games of bingo. Bakers for the October meeting will be: Amy Alpaugh, Tom Alpaugh, Carmella Parente and Connie Parente. The Golden Years Social and Travel Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month and new members are always welcome

St Cecilia’s A&R

St Cecilia’s Altar & Rosary/Christian Mothers will be "hosting" Fatima Day at parish on Saturday, October 24 beginning at 11 am. All are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served after the mass.

Cosmopolitan Seniors

The Cosmopolitan Seniors will meet again on Tuesday, October 20, at 1 p.m. at St. Cecilia’s Parish Center in Exeter. Vic Malinowski will preside. A luncheon will be held that day with a special menu. The committee consists of Amy Alpaugh, Mary Kovaleski, and Martina Willson. Reservations can be made with Amy at 654-7428 until Thursday, October 15.

Trip Coordinator Johanna is taking reservations for the following trips: Mount Airy Casino on Wednesday, October 14, and Dinner shows to Woodloch Pines, Sunday November 1, Mount Haven Resort on Sunday December 13, and Hunterdon Hills Playhouse on Monday, Feb. 8. Call 655-2720 for info on all trips. Non-members of all ages are welcome.

St. Anthony’s

No CCD classes on Monday, Columbus Day.

“Patsy Cline Lives” in Penny appearing on Saturday, October 17 at St. Anthony’s Parish Hall. Kaelyn Marie will sing your favorite tunes. Enjoy home cooking from B.P. Catering. Buffet Dinner at 7 pm. Music starts at 8 pm. Cost: $32.50 per person. Call Bill at 457-7665 for tickets and information.

The month of October is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary. The Rosary will be recited 20 minutes before the weekend Masses. Come early and join us in this devotion to the Blessed Mother. Rosaries are available at the entrances of the Church. Weekend Masses: on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday at 7:30 and 10:30 am and at 7 p.m. (the last Mass in the Valley). Confessions are heard on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and before Masses (come early). The Holy Rosary will be recited 20 minutes before the weekend Masses to honor our Blessed Mother. Come early and pray with us.
