Boy Scout Troop 366, held a Court of Honor on Tuesday evening, September 23. Scoutmaster Mr. Douglas Kaminski awarded 50 merit badgesto the 15 boysin the Troop. Anthony Maslousky and his family was welcomed into the troop and severalof the boys advanced in rank. Scouts receiving their Tenderfoot Badges were Anthony Maslousky, Scott Socash, Matthew Minelli, Zachary Wisnewski and David Corby. Scouts advancing to1st Class wereAustin Shission and Brian Berti. The Wyoming - West Wyoming Seniors met recently at Our Lady of Sorrows Hall with Frank Perfinski presiding. Vice President Marie Mattina read the opening prayer. Sunshine Chairperson Charmaine Potenza sent get-well cards to sick members. Betty O’Hara reported 41 members were present. Fifty-fifty winners were Genny Labaty, Ann Zagursky and Helen Nocek. Plans for the Halloweensocial were completed.
The next meeting will be held October 7 at 1:30 pm. Bake Chairperson, Helen Markert selected the following to bake, Alice Daniels, Ann Kosloskiand George Yurek. Mr Keith Saunders from Saunders and Rooney Law firm, Plymouth, Pa. will be a guest speaker at the meeting.The topic will be how to choose a Medicare Supplement plan.
New members are welcome and parking is available. Call President Frank Perfinski for information regarding joining the club at 693-3202.
The Wyoming Recreation Board announces the following events: "Spooktacular" Movie Night in the Park: Butler Street Park, Saturday, October 18, double feature starting at 6pm. Heffalump Halloween and then Spiderwick Chronicles. Costumes are optional.
Children’s Halloween Parade: Sunday, October 26 at 1pm, Butler Street Park. There will be a prize raffle per age group. You must wear a costume to be eligible for a prize. The Wyoming Crime Watch will present a brief demonstration on Halloween safety tips.
Vendors and corporate sponsors are wanted for the "Wyoming Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony" which will take place on Saturday, November 29 from 3pm to 8pm at Butler Street Park.
There will be a Santa parade and pictures with Santa. More details to come. Interested vendors and corporate sponsors may contact Patsy at 613-1400.
Also planning is underway for a Children’s Christmas Party to be held on Sunday, December 7 at 1pm. More details will follow.
Next Wyoming Recreation Board meeting is Monday, November 3 at 5:30pm in the Wyoming Borough Building. New members are always welcome.
The Wyoming Area Drama Parents will meet on Wednesday, October 8 at 7pm in the Secondary Center.
American Legion Post 904 will meet at the West Wyoming Hose Co. No. 1, Thursday October 9 at 6:30 pm with Commander Rick Yarosavich presiding. The committee consisting of Bob Jones, Frank Perfinski and George Yurek, will have information regarding the Christmas party to be held on December 14 at Agolinos Restaurant in West Pittston.
Wyoming/ West Wyoming Little League will meet tonight at 6:30pm in the West Wyoming Borough Hall. All parents are invited to attend.
Shoemaker Memorial Chapel
The Shoemaker Memorial Chapel, W Eighth St will hold a Flea Market/ Bake Sale on October 25 from 9 am – 3 pm. Chili, wimpies and Welsh Cookies will be sold. Table for the Flea Market are $5. To reserve a table or order food items please call Lorraine at 388-6940
A meeting to discuss plans for an All Class Reunion for West Wyoming High School will take place on Wednesday, October 8, at 7 pm. at Marianacci’s Restaurant on W. 8th St. in West Wyoming. The event is scheduled for Sept. 5, 2009 at the West Wyoming Hose Company #1 on Shoemaker Avenue, West Wyoming.
Wyoming Borough is taking applications for school crossing guards for the coming school year. Please contact the borough office at 693-0291 ext 2 for more information.
Recycling collection for Wyoming borough will be collected on Thursdays. Newspapers and commingled will alternate weeks for pickup. Commingled recycling will be collected on October 16. Newspapers will be collected October 9.
Wyoming residents who need to report uncollected garbage or recycling please call 883-0725.
