The West Pittston Cherry Blossom Committee will hold its meeting tonight at 7:00 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception School. All members are urged to attend as the committee will be selecting this year’s Grand Marshall at this meeting.
Any member unable to attend this meeting, but would like to have someone included for consideration to be this year’s Grand Marshall, is asked to contact Ralph Salerno, president.
Parents of the 2010 Senior Class will meet Wednesday, March 10, at 7:00 p.m. at the Wyoming Area Secondary Center in room 129. All senior parents are welcomed to attend.
The date for All Night Party is approaching. The officers of the Class of 2010 will be invited to attend the next meeting for an update on the event.
In order for the party to be a success for the seniors, parents are encouraged to become involved in the planning and fundraising process. If you have any questions, please contact Michael Coco at 654-2620.
Wyoming Area Softball Parents will hold “Meet the Warriors” on March 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria at the Wyoming Area Secondary Center.
Due to inclement weather, the West Pittston Women’s Club’s February 16 meeting was cancelled. The next scheduled meeting will be March 16.
Members are reminded that they are to bring articles to be put in Easter baskets for the shut-in members to the next meeting.
The Wyoming Area Education Association-Retired will hold its annual luncheon at the Avenue Dinner, Wyoming on Wednesday, March 17 at 11:30 a.m. Members will meet in the rear banquet room.
Reservations are not required, but it would be helpful if you could RSVP at the WA Federal Credit Union at 693-1339 or contact Gloria, Phil or Sandy.
Wyoming Area Softball Parents will hold a ziti dinner and craft show on March 21. There are still a few spots left for anyone interested in being a vendor at the show. Anyone interested can contact Nancy Alberigi at 693-3568.
There will be an “Angel Night” on March 18 for presale tickets for the upcoming play, “Sound of Music” put on by the Wyoming Area Drama Club.
George Miller, borough tax collector, announces West Pittston 2010 County and Borough Tax Bills have been mailed directly to the homeowners.
The tax office is opened on Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to noon during the rebate period. Rebate period starts now and will end on April 17. Face period will be from April 18 through June 17.

This is the 40th year for the West Pittston Rams Football and Cheerleading squads. They are refitting and repainting their helmets to match the original design of white Rams horns on the green helmet, with white facemask.
The board is considering moving to a green football jersey with a 40th Anniversary logo to honor the past teams.
Parents of players are encouraged to share their thoughts by contacting president@westpittstonrams.com and to watch the Rams website for the next board meeting to attend to discuss in person.
The board reminds all players and cheerleaders that the Rams Association will host the nine cheer teams of the WVWYFCC for the League Cheerleading Competition at the Warriors stadium on Saturday, September 25.
Parents of football and cheerleaders will participate in a variety of capacities to ensure this is a safe, organized, fun and financially successful event. The cheerleading competition committee is being formed now and will meet in early March to begin preparations for the event.

The Pampered Chef is Cooking Up Donations for the Library - March 22 - April 17
Corrine Farrell from Pampered Chef and a West Pittston resident read about the $5,000.00 challenge donation and is offering to donate a part of her proceeds to the library. Catalogs will be available at the library on March 22 and you can place orders at the library until April 17. Corrine will be at the library on April 17 from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. to take orders, answer questions or to book a party.

Library Challenge: Patrons of the West Pittston Library are reminded of the $5,000 challenge donation received recently by anonymous donors. If you haven’t sent in your annual campaign donation yet, please do so. It will count toward the challenge. The fund drive letters have been sent out for the Fire Department and the fundraiser is underway.
Our fire department is 100% volunteer and donations mean everything to their survival.
