Cosmopolitan Seniors planning Christmas party

The Cosmopolitan Seniors next meeting will take place at 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 10, in St. Cecilia’s parish center. Vic Malinowski will preside.

Fifty-seven members enjoyed a special luncheon preceding our last meeting.

Vice President Joe Kleback opened with a prayer, pledge of allegiance, and a patriotic song. Terri Mislan read the minutes and Amy Alpaugh the Treasurers report.

A special raffle was conducted with ceramic holiday dishes awarded to Dolores Bubblo and Ann Paluski.

Joe Kleback won a basket of lottery tickets, and the fall season wreath winner was Irene Parini.

Plans were announced for the annual Christmas party for Tuesday, December 1, at noon. Reservations may be made with Chairperson Marie Cheskiewicz at the next meetings. Bingo was played and door prizes awarded to Vern Cardillo, Johanna Malinowski, Tony Matreselva, Theresa Menhennett and Bernie Serbin. Cheryl Pipher won the Bingo jackpot.

Cosmopolitan Seniors travel coordinator Johanna is planning a trip to Mount Airy Casino in November and is accepting reservations for the Christmas show at Mount Haven Resort on Sunday, December 13.

A breakfast buffet will be served upon arrival, followed by entertainment, four-hour open bar and a dinner buffet before departure.

Reservations are also open for a musical and dinner show at Hunterdon Hills playhouse on Monday, February 8. Details can be obtained from Johanna at 655-2720.

Golden Years

The November meeting of the Golden Years Social and Travel Club will be on Tuesday, November 10 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Anthony’s Hall, Exeter.

With Sam DeSalvo presiding, members will enjoy games of bingo and home-made treats. Bakers for the month will be: Eva Casseri, Celia Pisaneschi, Catherine Manganello and Isabel Lucarella.

Members are reminded that the club Christmas party will be held on Sunday, December 6 in St. Anthony’s Hall. The Golden Years Social and Travel Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month and new members are always welcome.

Softball Parents

The Wyoming Area Softball Parents will hold a meeting on Wednesday night, November 11, at 7 p.m. at Sabatini’s Pizza in Exeter. All parents of softball players in grades 7 through 12 are encouraged to attend.

Planning for this upcoming season’s events will take place. For any questions, call Drew at 655-8756.

St. Anthony’s Parish

Monsignor Edward Efting will visit St. Anthony of Padua Church today and speak on behalf of Cross International Catholic Outreach, which was founded to create a meaningful link between the Churches in America and the Churches overseas in Africa, Asia, Central and South America.

The Pastoral Parish Council will meet on Monday, November 16 at 7:15 p.m. in the rectory.

The Mass of Remembrance will be celebrated on Sunday, November 15 at 12:30 p.m. for all parishioners deceased from November 2008 to October 2009. Family and friends are invited to come and offer prayers for their loved ones.

Any Parishioners who had a member of their family pass away during the year and were not buried from St. Anthony of Padua Church, may call the Rectory by Monday and their names will be placed in the list of the Mass of Remembrance.

Weekend Masses: on Saturday at 4:30 p.m., on Sunday at 7:30 and 10:30 a.m. and at 7 p.m. (the last Mass in the valley). Confessions are heard on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and before Masses (come early).

The Holy Rosary will be recited 20 minutes before the weekend Masses.
