WYOMING Council, Mayor honor championship LL team

The American Legion Post 904, together with the West Wyoming Borough Council and Mayor honored the Wyoming/ West Wyoming Major League team American Legion for their Interleague championship and undefeated season.

The American Legion team went 18-0 defeating a stubborn Jenkins Township team for the title.

Team members are Tim Helmecki, Kyler Higgins, Aaron Lee, Austin Lehman, Martin Michaels, Mark Ostrowski, Tino Romanelli, Rocky Rutkoski, Michael Sanfilippo Kyle Naperkowski and Frankie Yurek. The Manager is Larry Selenski and coaches are Marty Michaels, Tom Romanelli and Frank Yurek. Rick Yarosavich is the commander of American Legion Post 904.

Little League

A team representing the Wyoming / West Wyoming Little League in the Kingston LL Coach-Pitch tournament won three straight games before losing in the championship game.

The members of the team are Thaddeus Erzar, Isabella Scappaticci, Nick Belles, Nicole Silinskie, Neal Wanko, Josh Cumbo, Amarah Scott, Ryan Petrucci, Steve Ames, Dillon Williams, Cassidy Orzel and Jonathan Augustine. Coaches are Tom Scappaticci, Steve Ames, Paul Orzel, Ron Silinskie, Bill Petrucci and Brian Williams

Bible School

Vacation Bible School at the Wyoming United Methodist Church is July 6-10 from 9 a.m. to noon. This year’s theme is "Animal Antics" featuring the camel, lion, donkey, lamb, and dove. The Bible School concludes with a performance on Friday, July 10, at 6:30 p.m.

The Vacation Bible School, directed by Glenna Pocceschi,is free and open to all children Pre K - grade 6. Pre-registration is encouraged by calling 693-2821

Hose Co #2

West Wyoming Hose Co #2 will conduct its regular monthly meeting at Co. Headquarters 218 Stites St in the Borough at 7 p.m. on Monday July 6. The Relief Association meeting will immediately follow the conclusion of the regular meeting.

All members are urged to attend. Anyone, age 14 and above, interested in joining the Fire Service, is encouraged to come meet the officers and submit an application for membership.

Senior Citizens

The Wyoming, West Wyoming Seniors will meet Tuesday July 7 at 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows meeting Hall with President Frank Perfinski presiding. Bakers for this meeting are, Irene Zelinski, Mary Stanton and Angie Zagursky.

The picnic committee concluded their arrangements for the affair to be held July 21 at Francis Slocum State Park. Food will be served at noon.

Dessert and watermelon will be served. Ann and Dan Voitek are catering the affair. Payment must be made at this meeting. Guest are also invited.

There will be games played. Raffle winners were George Yurek, Nancy Marcy, and George Kraynak. Jackpot winners were Theresa Alexander and George Yurek.

New members are welcome. Seniors from the area are invited to join and share an afternoon of games, fun and refreshments.

Parking is available and is handicapped accessible.

Friendly Circle

The Friendly Circle Seniors will meet on July 9 at 1 p.m., at the Senior Center on Schooley Avenue. Hosts are Kate Trokotchak and Emily Stasik.

The group will hold a picnic on July 16, Cheryl Phipher is the chairperson.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday wishes to Sophie Hetro of Wyoming and her daughter Maryellen. Sophie celebrated her 80th birthday, July 2 and Maryellen celebrated her birthday July 3.

Borough Notes

Homeowners/Landlords are responsible for keeping properties maintained. The grass needs to be kept cut and trees that are over hanging onto your sidewalk need to keep trimmed.

The Code Enforcement Officer is enforcing complaince. A written notice will be left at non-compliant properties. If the request is not complied with in the time period specified a citation will be issued.

All Wyoming Residents that have an alley to the rear of properties are responsible for maintaining the weeds and keeping the alley free of yard waste.

Second half garbage stickers are now available at the Borough Office. Deadline for the purchase of the first half stickers is drawing to a close. Any questions can be directed to the Borough Manager, Cheryl, at 693.0291.
