Valley Masonic Lodge, 318 Linden Street, will hold its Semi-Annual Pancake & Sausage Breakfast, Sunday, October 11 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This is a fundraiser to pay for the repaired roof.
Everyone is welcome, donations are: adults $7.00, children under 12 $3.50, or you may purchase a ticket at the door.
“One Child at a Time - The Race for Maddy” will take place today at noon at
Pride Mobility Products Corporation on Susquehanna Avenue in Exeter.
Proceeds will help defray medical and travel expenses for Madison “Maddy” Lefkoski, a student at John F. Kennedy Elementary School, facing continued medical treatment for a malignant brain tumor.
There will be lots of food, music, and kids’ activities, and a team bed race competition as the highlight of the day.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
The West Pittston Cemetery Association will conduct their annual meeting on October 6 at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Building.
Lot owners/caretakers are encouraged to attend.
The Wyoming Area Drama Club Parents will be meeting this Wednesday, October 7, at 7:00 p.m. at the Secondary Center.
Plans will be finalized for the Drama Club’s ’Night of Fright’ Halloween production which will be held on Saturday, October 24. All parents of Drama Club members are encouraged to attend.
Wyoming Area Class of 1969 will hold their 40th reunion on Saturday, November 28 at Fox Hill Country Club. Cocktails at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $40.00 per person. Dancing to music of The Cadillacs.

Wyoming Area students, along with members of the West Pittston Shade Tree Commission, planted trees in Morris Park behind the Municipal Building on Exeter Avenue. The event was captured on video as a part of a TreeVitalize project. TreeVitalize is a public-private partnership to help restore tree cover, educate citizens about planting trees, and build capacity among local governments to understand, protect, and restore their urban trees.

The West Pittston Library Book Club meets the first Tuesday of every month at 6:45 p.m. and welcomes new members at any time.
Copies of selected books will be available for check out at the circulation desk three weeks before each meeting. The schedule is as follows: Tuesday, October 6 - Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell; Tuesday, November 3 - The Year of Living Biblically by A.J. Jacobs. Tuesday, January 5 - One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. There will be no meeting in December.
Yard waste pickup is on Monday and Tuesday of the week. Pickup on Mondays will take place from Montgomery Avenue to Erie St. and Tuesdays from Montgomery Avenue to Susquehanna Avenue.
Yard waste includes shrubbery or grass clippings and tree limbs not exceeding 3’ length of 1/2 diameter. Yard waste should be placed in open containers weighting less than 30 lbs.
Curbside Recycling for West Pittston Borough is the first and third Thursday of each month.
Recyclables should be placed on the curb by 6:00 a.m. Drop off collection will be held each Saturday at 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Public Works Facility, 505 Delaware Avenue.
Local Pittston chiropractor and West Pittston resident, Vincent Argenio will be celebrating another birthday this Friday, October 9.
He shares his birthday with his son Luca who will be turning 3, however, Vince will not be turning 3.
I’m sure mom and wife Amy will have her hands full that day.
